Dear Diary,
Lately I’ve been wondering how life would be if it had a bit more excitement. I’m so used to the everyday routine that I could do it with my eyes close. My mom used to tell me tales that Mystic Falls used to be full of life and flare, but now that she’s off in Europe for business I have the hardest time with believing her. We talk every now and then but not even I can deny the fact that something is off about our relationship. Something's straining between us but I don’t know what. Maybe it’s the distance or the lack of love but I believe that once she’s back my life could be fully restored.
“Katie!!!”
I winced at the sound of my sister’s voice. It was bad enough her room was beside mine but her screaming was even worst.
“What do you need Mallory?”
She quickly rushed into my room, her dark hair contrasting with her green eyes that only had one stripe of brown on the right eye. As she walked closer to me I saw the flower dress that she created herself in one hand and two pair of shoes on the other. “Me and Paige are going to slay the hallway today. The only problem is, is that I can’t find pair of shoes to go with it.”
I shot her a look, and tossed the diary to the side. “Why come to me for fashion advice, don’t you have your little friend for all of that?”
“Zoe is still on a trip to New Orleans, and Syncere is too busy getting herself ready for school. So I came to the obvious last choice.”
I chose not to take that offensively because even with that coming from her mouth it was a compliment. No one seemed to agree with my choice of style when it came to fashion, but one day they’ll see that my look comes to stop even the loudest of concerts. “The flowers used makes the red and gold pop out in the left shoe’s, while the solid black makes the dress pop out more.”
“So go with none of your choices” she said smiling, “Thanks.”
“Oh dear Alice where might your adventures lead you!” I yelled as she rushed out the room.
As I sat in the room alone I debated on whether or not I wanted to go back to writing in my diary. But as the sun began to rise my room started to glow. The sun shining through the crystals hanging over the window making them glisten over the colors I had in my room. While my sister was obsessed with Paris and Alice in wonderland, I was obsessed with winter wonderlands all together.
The sun made the snow pattern decorations hanging from the ceiling look as though they were alive, and the snowy white carpet made me feel the sensation of freshly fallen snow. The covers had golden laces around them to represent the wind of the ever changing season. The laces flowing all the way to the pillows which stood like guardians to the creature they flew above it. The snowy white owl hung over the head of my bed as a symbol of freedom, as a sign that one day the winter wonderland that I always dream of will come and I will love it. But then it makes you think if fairytales are supposed to be looked up to, then why can’t everyone live it?
Buzzz Buzzz.
My attention snapped towards my phone as it kept ringing, someone was facetiming me. I quickly answered it and laid down in the bed.
“Hi Mom.”
“Hey Sweetheart.”
*********
“Come on you have to shoot it.”
“I will not.”
“An archer with no soul, how does that happen.”
My eye’s darted towards Ben. He was taller, bulkier, and more fit than me. Constantly trying to turn me into the hunter that he is but It’ll never work. I swore to my parents that I wouldn’t kill not a soul, even if it was to save my life.
