June bursted into a coughing fit as her dark stone colored eyes widened when she turned around. Huge flames engulfed the trees behind her, with smoke filling the air as the fire lit up the starry night. Her cheeks were stained with tears, and she listened as the fire scorched the woods of what used to be her home.
While she was with her family, and the rest of her small village, a fire had started. It was unknown by who or what, though June thought it had to be the humans that were nearby, living just near the woods.
The smoke wasn't too bad on the ground, though it still made it difficult for her to breathe. She pushed through the blades of grass that were a little taller then her. June coughed again, and stumbled forward, though soon found herself rolling down a steep hill. She let out a slight yelp, and plunged into water. The last thing she could remember was thrashing her arms out in front of her in attempt to swim up to the surface again, before everything around her went black.

Donte and a few others had entered the woods, checking out how bad the damage was, and to see if any animals had been hurt. He himself wasn't planning on having to help an animal, as the others would offer to help it almost immediately. He looked around, and four others followed him. Donte spotted a small fox with an injured leg at the bottom of a rather steep hill with water at the bottom. It lay slightly in the mud and water.
He came down there slowly and had acknowledged it was there, looking at the other people who decided to follow him. "We can take it.", One man offered, a younger girl standing next to him. Donte stared before replying, "Alright..". They pulled it into a towel, and carried it back up.
He could tell it was time to go back as everyone began to gather up, leave, and maybe look farther tomorrow. He kicked some mud lightly into the water, and was about to turn and leave until something caught his eye. A small chunk of burnt bark floated on the water, carrying something on it. He kneeled down, squinting and saw that it was a very small person. He gasped slightly, and his mind thought of a small doll. It can't be a tiny person.. he thought. It just doesn't exist..!.
He scooped it up in his hands, and didn't want the others to see it. He lightly prodded its side with his finger and rolled it onto its back. "It sure is a small person.", He mumbled, his words ruffling her hair a bit. "C'mon, Donte !", he could hear someone yell from above the hill. "It's time to go!". "Uh.. coming !", he yelled back in reply, dropping her into his pocket, before climbing back up the hill. He started to head home, with the few others that lived in the area with him. He wondered if it could speak, if it were just as normal as any other human being.

June felt a softer surface underneath her instead of the water around her now. She began to slowly open her eyes, and when she did, she was inside a large glass jar. Though it had no top to it. There were a few soft tissues on the bottom which she was laying on. She had noticed the jar was on top of a table, and she also had slightly wet hair, and was clean. Except for her clothes. Whoever took her, had cleaned her up and trapped her in here. She panicked slightly, knowing it had to be a human.
June stood, and tried to think of a way she could get out. Though the door creaked open, and someone walked in. He looked around 17, and was carrying a bucket. He sat it down by the door and his eyes landed on the jar. She gasped when he began walking over. He kneeled down in front of the jar, and said softly, "Hello.". Her breath hitched anxiously, and she stared at his giant amber brown eyes. He stared back silently, and asked, "Uh.. are you okay now?". He cleared his throat and continued, "I found you in the woods, after the fire... I took you here and washed you up.".
The thought crossed her mind again, and she felt heat creeping onto her cheeks. He bit his lip, quickly saying, "Only the skin that was revealed, I uh.. didn't take off your clothes..". Awkward silence washed over them for a bit. Finally he asked, "Do you have a name ? Or do you not speak at all?". She hesitated to give him the answer, though he hadn't done anything in particular to hurt her. She took a deep breath, and replied. "J-June..", she said. He smiled a bit, and breathed, "So you do talk.". She just awkwardly nodded. "I'm Donte.", he replied.
"Would you like to come out?", he asked, staring at her. She had been avoiding his gaze, but now stared back at him. She thought for a second, and then nodded slowly. "Okay.. brace yourself.", he replied as one of his hands gripped the jar, and slowly tilted it. She tumbled out and onto the wood table into a sitting position. He put the tissues back into the jar, pushed it aside and stayed silent, looking back at her. He stared for a few moments and let out a soft sigh that ruffled her hair. She could tell by his expression, he was probably thinking, "Oh my god.", as if he didn't think that the first time he saw her, because neither of them have ever seen each other this close up.
After a few moments he suddenly realized this and asked, "Did you have a family ? I'm going back to check again tomorrow.". Her family had crossed her mind, though she knew they were dead. They had to be, they didn't escape in time...
Tears filled her eyes again and flowed down her cheeks slowly. He noticed, and stiffened a little. "Please don't cry...", he said softly, biting his bottom lip after. June swallowed harshly, and wiped the tears from her cheeks, though she couldn't stop the few more that came. "I'm sorry.", he said quietly. His finger brushed against her arm and she gasped, pulling away almost immediately. It had surprised her slightly, and she wasn't expecting that. He said nothing and pulled away leaving his arm at his side again.
She sighed, resting her elbows on her knees and running her fingers through her hair. Silence washed over again, causing them both to stare at each other for a while. "Well, maybe you should take some time to rest and calm down, for now you can stay with me.", he said softly. She bit her lip again, though didn't argue, just slowly nod again silently. June's eyes darted to the jar with the tissues in it, wondering if that's where he was going to keep her. "Uh, well if you want to you can just lay on my bed. There's plenty of room..".
The thoughts still clouded her mind, and at first she didn't hear him, but after a couple of moments she just nodded again. She realized he was going to pick her up, and braced herself, closing her eyes. Nothing happened after a bit, and so she opened them. He was standing to his full height now, and had his hand on the table, palm up. Donte had a bit of a confused expression, though waited patiently. "You must've been uncomfortable if I just.. picked you up. So you can climb on and sit.. take as much time as you need, but if you don't want to just tell me.", he said.
She started to stand, and come over to his hand. She began to climb on the squishy surface. Once comfortable where she was, she sat down. He lifted his hand up, and slowly carried her towards the other side of the room. He placed his hand on the bed, and June climbed off. It felt warm, and her feet slowly sank into the soft fabric. She laid down by the large pillow, and he pulled his hand away. "Well, I need to do some stuff outside, but I'll be back soon.", he said, with a sigh as he turned, and went out the door, closing it behind him.
She had been unconscious for a while, and wondered if she really needed sleep, because she started to feel tired. He eyelids felt heavy, and she let them close slowly. She drifted off into sleep, curled up.
