____________________________________*Da ding* A mail alert pops up on my rose-gold SmacBook. I roll my chair into my rainbow striped, *L* shaped, corner desk. It has two shelves that connect to the wall, stocked full of books. I'm really into reading.
I click the alert and screech, "O. M. G, it's from her!" I've had a crush on this girl for most of my junior year. It all started when she kicked this bully's ass for some nerdy kid at the science fair. Okay, that nerdy kid was me but that was AMAZING!
I'm thin and pretty-well flat chested. I have medium-length black hair which is normally pulled into a bun and purple, square glasses.
She's never talked to me since.
Sigh.
I begin to read her message, *You're invited to my birthday celebration this Saturday. It's going to be a blast!
Location: Lightning Laser Tag-apocalypse
Time: 12:00 pm + a possible sleepover at my place
Gifts optional, Fun mandatory*I just about fell out of my seat I jumped so hard. Saturday's tomorrow! There's only one person I trust enough with this type of emergency. My best bro forever or BBF, Blake. He's incredibly reliable and can help me with any situation. Ever.
I take my phone from my pocket and dial his number, I hold it up to my ear and I don't hear a single ring all that comes out is "Crush, laser tag, emergency, be there in ten." and he's gone. What did I say about reliable?
***
Eight minutes later I hear. "Good evening Mrs. Grady is Naya here?"
"Yes, she's upstairs in her room. Is something the matter?"
"One word. Asrid."
"Oh dear, well you'd better get up there."
The next thing I hear are about five stomps on the steps and my door smack into the wall, and there stands Blake, notebook clutched in his hands. "The Ally has arrived. BBF for life!" He pumps his fist into the air.
He's a short, Filipino guy. He's dressed in a snug red long sleeve sweater and blue jeans. Barefoot he walks in, ruffling his flat, black hair.
"I got it too, the email. May I?" He asks gesturing to my desk. I nod and he jumps up and sits on the longer side of it touching the wall. I twist my chair so that I face him.
"Okay, what's The Ally got in store?" I ask grabbing the notebook from his hands and staring down at the blank page. "Nothing?" I'm shocked.
"Ah" He points to the book. "nothing yet." He grabs a pen from my pencil holder, clicking it, he holds his hand out for me to place the book onto. I do. "Now, let's brainstorm."
"Let's start with ... I don't go and I curl my antisocial-ass up into bed and never leave." I smile large and give him a double thumbs up.
"Yeah, no. You've got to face her at some point. Tomorrow is some point."
"Ugh." I protest, drawing it out and spinning my chair around in a circle with my head thrown back. "Fine." I snap it back into place. "But you're coming up with most of the plan."
"Deal?" He holds out his hand and I shake it in that formal, one shake, sort of way.
"Deal." He scribbles down the title.
"The Plan." he reads. "Step one, say Hello."
"Too difficult, I quit." I tease him. Smiling I say, "Fine, and step two?"
