I hope you enjoy your spring break at home, [Name].  I’ll be sure to bring you a souvenir when I get back from Florida, okay?

[Name] re-read the text message on her phone from her classmate, Sandra, feeling a dull ache in her chest.  [Name] sighed in irritation before she turned off her phone and shoved it in her pocket.

“Great, can’t wait to see what you’ll bring me back from Disney World.” [Name] said with a roll of her eyes. “I know I can’t afford to go on a spring break trip; you don’t have to rub it in and buy me a souvenir.”

It was [Name]’s first spring break as a college student and she was spending it at home.  While most of her classmates and friends were off in another state or country getting completely plastered or soaking up the sun, [Name] was working a part-time job she hated to help pay her tuition and books.  Since she couldn’t enjoy the sun in a place like Florida she decided to spend it hanging out in her backyard on the hammock.  It certainly beat staying in the dorms alone for spring break, but it still wasn’t very fun spending it at home while her parents were at work.

“I hope they all come back to school with hangovers and jetlag…” [Name] held an arm over her eyes to shield them from the son. Why do I have to feel so bitter about this?

Since [Name] was off in her own little world, she failed to notice a familiar head of short black hair climb over the fence next door and approach her.  It wasn’t until she felt a warm breath of air in her ear that she finally sat upright and nearly fell off the hammock.

“Shit!” [Name] cried out in surprise and rubbed the side of her ear before her eyes met with the culprit’s onyx hues. “Dammit, Tae Sung, I hate it when you do that.”

“Sorry, it’s been so long since I’ve done that.” Tae Sung said with a chuckle. “I couldn’t resist.”

“What do you want anyway?” [Name] readjusted her body on the hammock.

“Hey, that’s no way to greet an old high school classmate, is it?” Tae Sung shot a teasing smile at her, which [Name] countered with a scowled.  She hated to admit it, but it was good to see a familiar face in her time of self-wallowing.

It had been quite a few months since [Name] had last seen Tae Sung since they both attended different universities.  It was even harder for her to admit that he looked rather handsome.  His thick black hair had grown out a little and he wore contacts instead of his black framed glasses that hid his bright onyx hues.  His short sleeve striped shirt showed that his muscles had toned out a little as well.  Despite the slight physical changes, he still kept the teasing smile [Name] had grown accustomed to seeing in high school.

“Neither is blowing in their ear like they’re trying to seduce them.” [Name] fought off the urge to blush.

“Ooh, is that what you want me to do?” Tae Sung leaned closer to [Name] before she pushed his face away, her cheeks burning.

“Knock it off, Tae Sung.”

“It’s good to see you haven’t changed, [Name].”

“Yeah, you too...I guess.”
