The next day, I went around my yard, grabbing any garbage I may have missed last night. I tossed a few plastic cups away before I decided to walk over to visit. Rick was still staying with his family for a little bit so Morty wouldn't feel left out anymore.
Currently, Rick and Morty were in the garage working on what could only be described as a minuscule robot. "What's up, nerds?" Rick looked up before standing and walking over to me. "You're one to talk, dork. What urp brings you over?"Nothing else had happened after yesterday's incident in the living room. Summer came in to tell us everything was ready, making the two of us jump a mile apart. The rest of the night had been filled with awkward glances.
"Bored at home, needed something to do." Rick laughed before he went back over to help Morty out. "Give us a few more minutes. We were gonna head out soon, anyways." I went and sat in Rick's chair, waiting for them to finish what Rick described as a robot that passed butter.
It took ten minutes, but he eventually stood up and put the robot on a shelf. "Alright, let's go." Rick pulled us all to his spaceship and we hopped in. Morty sat in back while I took the passenger seat. "Where are we going?"
Rick looked back to Morty, then to me, grinning, "Blips and Chitz!" He cheered before we took off, heading to whatever Blips and Chitz was.
Throughout the entire trip, I stared at the planets as we passed them, unable to believe how many there actually were. "Whoa...""It's beautiful." I looked over to Rick who happened to be staring at me. "Cheeeesyy." He huffed and looked out the window, laughing. Morty laughed with him, watching from the back seat.
The ride was very short. Eventually, we found Blips and Chitz and made our way in. The first thing Rick did was drag us over to "Roy: A Life Well Lived." He pulled on some gear and started playing the game while Morty and I watched on another screen. "Holy shit! He's going off grid!" I turned around to find a group slowly gathering around Rick, watching in amazement. He went for the longest time before he finally died. Looking at the scoreboard, he had clearly been here often. He held every slot for the first six high scores. Grinning, he walked over to me. "Your turn, sweetcheeks."
I looked at the helmet for a moment, then at the screen. I was determined to kick Rick's ass. As soon as I'm in, I'm gonna figure out how to go off grid, too. I sat in the chair, pulled the helmet on, and started the game. I went around as a college student for a while before dropping out. I had several jobs and my life was going well. Eventually, I found the secret. I hopped off grid and continued playing, praying that I could beat Rick's high score.
Eventually, I wound up dying of old age before the helmet was removed from my head. I looked at the scoreboard before taking in Rick's astonished expression. I had taken first place. "Suck it, dweeb." I set the helmet down and walked away, trying to find something new to play. Eventually, I settled on a claw machine. It took a few tries, but I eventually pulled out three animals. I had a purple owl, a funny looking blob, and a giant cookie. I carried my plush items over to find Rick playing Roy again. After a moment, he took the helmet off, having died. His name flashed second on the scoreboard as he stood up with a frustrated look. He saw me and started walking over.
"Why so gloomy?" He gave me a 'really?' face before walking over to find Morty playing a skee-ball type game. "Come on kid, we-we're leaving."
We began walking away, before somebody came up behind Rick and held a gun to his head. "Not so fast, Rick Sanchez. You're under arrest for crimes against the Galactic Federation. Come peacefully or I will be forced to use your Morty against you." I gasped. The Galactic Federation? They want Rick?
Hearing me, the woman holding a gun to Rick's head looked my way. She gasped, "(F-F/N)? (F/N) Addams?" I nodded slowly, "H-How do you know my name?"
She saluted me, for some unknown reason. "Your parents were the best damn leaders I ever had the pleasure of serving."
"My-My parents?" She nodded. Rick's eyes were wide as he looked between the both of us. "The President will be ecstatic to hear that we finally found you. We've been waiting for you to arrive and assume you position as his second in command." I dropped the stuffed animals. I couldn't believe what she was saying. "You even managed to capture Rick Sanchez, the most wanted criminal in the universe."I looked at Rick, completely confused. He looked absolutely betrayed as he looked down and refused to meet my gaze. "N-no, I..."
"Come on, we can head back to headquarters and show them what you've done." She placed cuffs around Rick's wrists and began dragging him. I ran after, leaving the prizes and grabbing Morty. "Morty, please you have to do something!"
He backed away from me, terrified. I had no idea what to do. They were taking Rick away. I quickly ran up to the two. "Wa-Wait, I-" The woman stopped abruptly. "Just a second, I need to call my partner and have him come pick us up. I've been under cover for so long now. I-"
I reached into Rick's pocket and pulled out a small gun, aiming it at her. "Addams? What are you doing?" She let go of Rick. "You can't take him away."
I never thought I would kill somebody.
