I woke up. Not having any clue, I started looking everywhere. I found I was in a big white-washed room. I was lying on an enormous bed, covered with a white sheet, rolled neatly which seemed to be spoilt by my presence over it. Two tables beside it on either side, having a night lamp which was on, making me wonder why would I sleep in a brightly lit place? I was heavily sweating which made me wonder whether the A.C. was working or not. I looked in random directions to find where I was.
There was a window south to the bed. Curtains covered it beautifully. One couldn't make out the presence of the window, but I could find it luckily, owing heavily to my spying skills. Yes, I was a boy scout in my school days. But never mind that. It doesn't seem any important right now. So I pulled off the curtain aside, letting me view what the scene outside was. Well, to be frank, I couldn't see much as it was all covered in fog. I couldn't make out what the time was but it seemed it was more than midnight and less than dawn. Yes, there was no wall clock or any time-source in the room. Nor did I have any kind of watch on my hand. I looked in my pocket to find my mobile phone, but I couldn't find. So as a normal reaction, I would panic, but no, I didn't.
I wiped off the sweat with the blanket which was lying on the bed. And as I was keeping it back in its place, I found some fine purple coloured ray of light piercing out of another blanket kept at the same position. It was my notification light and that is where I found my phone. I don't know why but secretly, I smiled. Knowing your phone is safe is always cherishing. So the first thing I did was unlock the phone and check for the time. It was 2.45 a.m. I then looked for the notification. It was a message from mom, ' Come home soon. Love you!' Upon which I typed, 'Where am I, mum?' and kept my phone aside.
I don't know what was happening around. I really had no idea what this is all about. I am in some unknown place with this scary white paint all over making me drown in my mind. But I have to find where I am, so I try to locate myself on Google Maps. I turn on the location, and it is trying to locate me. The location appears. I am in Daman in some hotel which I don't remember checking in. Now my curiosity has been tested a lot. I decided to find an exit and get out of this place. Luckily, I found a door. I got out of there. A long passage on either side of the room which was lit in a dim yellow light. This can haunt me for days, I thought. I inched forward, defensively looking for some clue.
I looked behind. I found I was in room number 707. Adjacent to my room was 708 but what astonished me was I could find a bright beam of light making its way out of the room from the bottom of the door. It caught my attention as who on earth would keep his lights on at this point in time. Yes, don't count me in because I don't remember keeping them on. I don't remember anything. So, I turned toward the door. I thought of knocking at first but later cancelled the plan as it would be really disturbing right now. So, I looked through the keyhole. All that I could see was a pale, fat man who was standing near a bed which I couldn't see. He covered it almost.
A half bald man who was half-naked standing there in isolation or wait; maybe there was somebody else there with him. Maybe a female. I couldn't judge as the situation didn't demand it. The hairy body of his took a turn this time. He walked slowly, thumping towards the door. Maybe he came to know about my sneak-peek. I got frightened as I should. Before I could even give a reaction, he opened the door, only to find a tall, handsome, young boy, astonishingly looking at him in desperation. He didn't demand a reason or an excuse, instead, he directly kicked me, right on my chest. I felt like I was stabbed for a moment and then I heard some random slowly rising voices. My head started to pain badly. The voices were all over me. They were slowly raising the bar. 'Wake up, Samar, you will get late!', 'Wake up! It is time, it is 8 a.m.! You asked me to wake you up at 7 a.m., didn't you?'
I woke up, panting heavily. I looked up. My mom was there, waking me up. I could see a smiling but worried face of her. Obviously, she would be thinking that such a disgrace I am to the family name. Her eyes reflected my worried and now relieved face.
