Although Sadie didn't date much for multiple reasons, she knew when she saw an attractive man and Mr. Madison was very attractive. He stood tall, well over 6ft and he stood at ease, something Sadie could never really do. His body looked really good in his fitted navy suit and his face was like something straight out of a magazine. His dark brown hair was neat yet slightly messy as if he'd run his hand through it. His eyes were a light color, blue maybe green, she was unable to see because she opted to leave her glasses at home. And lastly his lips. They were perfect just like the rest of his face. There was a smirk forming and Sadie snapped out of her trance when he spoke.
"I see you like the view"
Sadie coughed, she had been caught staring. She blushed as she looked down at her black pointy flats. She wished she wasn't in the room at that moment.
"The view from this window is one of my favorite things about coming in to work everyday" His voice was smooth and deep and held the slightest hint of amusement. When she looked up she saw a smirk playing on his lips and his eyes had a look of amusement in them. She knew he was teasing her for staring and if she wasn't so shy she would have had something smart and maybe something flirtatious to say, but she didn't. Instead she smiled a closed lip smile and spoke avoiding eye contact but instead looking back at the gigantic window.
"I wouldn't mind coming into work too if this was my view everyday". She looked back at him and he was no longer smirking but for a brief moment had a genuine smile. It was so nice on his face. It crinkled his eyes and Sadie wasn't sure how old he was but that smile gave him a youthful look to him. He walked around to sit at his neat desk.
"Take a seat" he gestured to the chair in front of his desk. After she took a seat, he began the interview. It was short and brief. He must have been filled in by Fiona's father and her long resume so he didn't ask all that many questions. Much to Sadie's relief he had told her she had gotten the job and that Piper his secretary would give her her schedule on her way out.Sadie hadn't found out about the party until a week ago unlike everyone else at the office who knew about it a month in advance. Piper forgot to inform her mistakingly thinking that she already knew about it. Sadie wasn't upset she was just stressed. She had nothing to wear, nothing that would be fit for the kind of attire the night required. In all honesty Sadie was stressed about what to wear to work everyday.
She wasn't rich and it seemed like everyone at the firm was or so it seemed from all the designer clothes she saw being worn. She was happy she was being paid for interning but it wasn't as much as the other associates who were actually working there. The money she earned she couldn't exactly spend on clothes. She had to pay her part for the apartment she shared with Fiona.
Fiona was not only her roommate but also her best friend. They were surprisingly good friends considering how opposite they were. Sadie was shy and reserved whilst Fiona was loud and outspoken. While Sadie harbored some insecurities Fiona was confident. They met in law school and contrary to what Sadie thought would happen they became great friends. Fiona turned out to be kind and after a few study sessions Sadie warmed up to her and was able to be comfortable around her.
After graduating College Sadie needed to find a place to live and Fiona begged her to move in with her in her comfortable loft in a quite neighborhood in Manhattan. They agreed on splitting the rent but Fiona wouldn't take Sadie's money until she was hired as a full time employee at the firm. Sadie tried to pay her but since she wouldn't take her only she supplemented by buying the groceries and doing the cooking. Fiona was helpless in the kitchen due to never learning how to cook so she always reminded Sadie how grateful she was for her.
Unlike Sadie, Fiona came from a rich family and although she had money from her parents she insisted on earning her own money. Fiona and Sadie both studied to become lawyers but Fiona realized she loved designing more. She was good at it, and with her outgoing personality and drive Fiona was able to land a job at a hot shot interior design company. Sadie was happy for her friend and sometimes wished it was as easy for her to pursue what she loved, helping the less fortunate as a lawyer, like it was for Fiona. But she quickly learned that it was a lot harder to support herself in that career choice.
Still Sadie didn't let that dream go. She dreamed that one day, when she was better off she'd pursue it. However for now she had to focus on finishing her internship and getting hired to work at Madison and Berkleys permanently. And more importantly she had to figure out what she would wear tomorrow. Hopefully Fiona could come to her rescue once again and have something presentable for her to wear.
