Slowly gaining some strength, Dinah blindly continues taking tentative steps in the dark cave. Stopping a moment, she feels a faint breeze brush her face. There's got to be an opening around here, of some kind, in order to have this air coming through. She moves in the direction of the oncoming gentle airflow. By now her eyes have adjusted enough to the darkness, and the blood seeping out of her side is beginning to clot. She isn't sure of how much blood has been lost but she can't stop now. Her thoughts turn to her one love and how she longs to be in the young woman's arms. Suddenly she trips, and begins to slide down into another hole. Clawing at the loose dirt in the attempt to halt a further decline, she manages to grab onto a tree root. "Goddamn it!" she yells. Carefully digging the toes of her boots in the dirt, she slowly climbs back up the slope, and after some time she manages to find her way to where she started.

Y/n spends the night crying in her bed. She recalls the day's earlier events when Lauren called the airlines for her. They wanted confirmation of Dinah boarding the plane or possibly changed plans to take a later flight. "I'm sorry, but no one by the name of Dinah Jane Hansen has boarded flight number 817 leaving Newark and arriving in Chicago. Also, I don't find that name listed for any other flights to the same destination." Lauren had even contacted the rental car company hoping they could give any clues. "I'm sorry Miss." The young man says apologetically. "According to our records, Miss Hansen has not returned the vehicle. The car was due at 3pm today. We have not heard from her."

Exhausted from the onslaught of emotions, the young woman rises from her tear stained pillow. Looking through her bookshelf, she finds her book on Dream Magic. She checks the supply drawer to make sure she has everything she needs for the spell she intends to cast. Preparing her spell table, she lays a white cloth upon it. Four white candles, two red, two pink, two orange, and two purple adorn the top. She sets out the rose quartz, the green aventurine, a turquoise stone, and an amethyst. Arranging them in the shape of a triangle surrounding the two pink candles in the center, she removes her moonstone talisman and wraps the silver chain around the base of these two candles. The moonstone hangs suspended between them.

Y/n heads into the bathroom for a shower. Afterwards she dons a white button down nightshirt and returns to the spell table. With a lighter, she lights up a sage wand, and as the smoke lifts into the room, she waves it in a clockwise circle as she recites a purification incantation. Next she lights the candles and begins the spell that will hopefully provide her with insightful knowledge as to Dinah's whereabouts and condition and also bring her lover safely home.

As the candles continue to burn, she cries once again, begging that the gods will hear her and grant her request.

****************

Dinah presses the light button on her watch. Nothing happens. She holds the piece up to her ear. There is no sound. "Fucking great. My watch is broken." She angrily declares, and then sighs. "I don't even know what fucking time it is. I don't know if it's night or day. I don't know where I am or how long I'll be here." She yells at no one. Falling to her knees in exhaustion, she begins to cry, feeling she is trapped in a hopeless situation. Lying down on her right side, she cries herself to sleep.

****************

More than a couple of months pass without any news about Dinah.

The only useless information that arose is that the rental Jeep had been found in a small town called Washington Heights. It was parked illegally and had been towed.

On the night of the full moon, Y/n works once again on the spell for her love. She falls asleep on the couch this time with the moonstone in her hand.

The clock strikes 1am, and weary green eyes suddenly open. Y/N opens her right hand because it feels hot. She notices the stone has almost an ethereal glow about it, and it is giving off a burning sensation. She holds it up by the chain in her left hand and inspects the red mark that the stone left behind in her palm. "She's alive." Y/n whispers into the night air. Rising from the couch she calls Lauren.

"Hello?" comes the sleepy voice.

"It's Y/n. I'm sorry for calling so late."

"It's okay. What's wrong dear?"

"She's alive."

Lauren sits up in her bed. "How do you know?"

"The moonstone --- the ones I made into talismans for Dinah and I --- is glowing and radiating heat. It has to be a sign that she is somewhere, and trying to get back to me. It must be."

"Thank the gods." Lauren sighs. "What are you going to do?"

"I plan on taking the next flight out to New Jersey."

"But we don't even know where she went. How do you plan on finding her?"

"I'll start in Newark and then go to the town where the Jeep was found."

"You be careful dear. Please call me daily, so that I know you are fine. I will pray for your safe and quick return."

"Thank you Laur."
