I stared at him blankly, unable to find words. The expression on his face told me he wasn't sure of what to say either. I couldn't comprehend what had just happened, I didn't want to believe it. I wanted to believe this was a dream. It has to be. This wasn't right...was it? Should any of this have happened? My mind is spinning and I can't seem to focus on the beautiful, yet motionless boy in front of me. I caught myself gazing deeper into those piercing green eyes that seem to contrast from a faded pigment of emerald to a more dark, and bold shade. After moments of silence, I let myself do something I never even knew I was capable of.

1.

( 3 months earlier )

The heels of my black combat boots skidded across the sidewalk as I took one step after another. There was a cool breeze gliding against my skin, but it was refreshing considering the extra-hot sun that had been shining all day, not that I'm complaining. I've always loved spring, if it weren't for school it would probably be my favorite season. I'm just happy it's April, which means spring break is in less than a week, and God knows I am in much need of extended time off from education. Right now, I'm pushing through because it's Friday. Our traditional two days off will have to suffice, especially since Kendall's home from college for the next few weeks. When she's home, things get crazy. Of course as an older sister she pisses me off a lot and annoys the hell out of me more than anything, but she's actually really fun to have around when it comes to parties or just casual hang-outs. As I reached the driveway, I noticed a sleek, white, 2002 Honda Civic parked terribly in front of the garage. At first, I was a little confused because I hadn't been expecting any company during the day. I didn't think too much into it as I assumed that it may have belonged to one of my mother's friends who decided to pay a visit. I made my way passed the semi-small vehicle and walked up to the door, pushing my key inside the silver lock and twisting it open. Nothing feels better than stepping into a peaceful, clean, sweet-smelling house on a beautiful afternoon. I shut the door behind me and slid my bag off of my shoulder, gently placing it on one of the couches in the living room. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed an apple from the counter, sinking my teeth into the plump and juicy fruit. I leaned against the gray granite island as I looked around the bright area. "Moooom are you alive? I'm home!" I called out. I was expecting a response, but I heard nothing. This was different. Usually, my mom is the first person I see when I come home. She normally greets me by smothering kisses before I even reach the kitchen, I don't know what happened today. As I finished eating my apple, I decided to look for both my mother and Kendall. I slowly scoped out the rooms of the house, curious as to where everyone could be. I checked one of the guest rooms, the dining room, Kendall's room, and my mother's room. Suddenly, as I made my way to the door that leads to our basement, I heard muffled laughter. By the sound of their chuckles, I knew for a fact my mom and my sister were down there, but I couldn't identify the male voices. I predicted they would be friends of Kendall's, but I don't think I had ever met them before. Which would make sense because she's been gone for months, it's only normal for her to make new friends while she's away. I opened the door and peered down the stairs, I didn't want anyone to hear me. I had a thing about meeting new people, it secretly made me nervous. Although, I do act overly confident and comfortable. Most of the time people are intimidated by me because of my harsh appearance, I like to come off as a "bitch" as my sister would say. But, when it came to meeting my sister's friends, I had always felt insecure. For some odd reason I was always worried about them not liking me, I don't know. After opening the door to the basement, I slyly stretched my leg out to reach the first step, leaning on the tips of my toes so that no noise would be emitted while wrapping my fingers from my right hand around the bar handle and placing my left palm against the wall closest to my heart. I tip-toed down a few steps, stopping each time someone spoke. Once I made it to the middle, I paused. I heard my name pop up into the conversation. "Hey...isn't your, erm, sister coming soon?" One of the males asked. His voice was deep, and a tiny bit raspy. It also sounded...British? "Oh yeh! Di'int ya say she'd be home by now?" The other boy questioned. His voice wasn't as deep, and I might have been going crazy, but I'm pretty sure it sounded Irish. How the hell did they end up here? "She should be, yeah...hey, Mom? What do you think? Has Kylie come home yet?" I could practically hear the smirk form on Kendall's face. I knew for a fact both her and my mother were aware that I was a lot closer than the two boys would have ever guessed. I silently cursed to myself as I carefully spun on my toes, facing the opposite direction, rushing to get myself up the stairs before anyone else could hear me. Before I could make it to the top, I was caught. "KYLIE!" My mom shrieked. I flinched at the sound and clenched my fists. Once I realized I had been detected, I let out a breath of defeat and slowly turned around to look down at my mother's face. "What a coincidence, your name was brought up AND you've been silently standing in the middle of the stair case this whole time. It really shows how eager you are to meet Kendall's friends!" Her face held a bright, perfect smile. I reciprocated her expression, only to mock her. "Right." I whispered. "Well, come back down. You were gonna have to meet them sooner or later." She crossed her arms with a more relaxed face, patiently waiting for me to drag myself down the stairs again. I'm sure the two guys probably felt offended by the fact that my mother made it seem like I had tried to avoid meeting them. Great. As I let out another sigh, I plopped down the stairs. When I reached the floor my mother put her hand on the small of my back, gently pushing me into the intimate area. I looked over at Kendall to find her chuckling and waving in my direction. The two boys were seated on the couch facing away from my mother and I, when they saw Kendall laughing across from them, they both simultaneously stood up and turned around. I didn't intend it, but my jaw practically dropped. I couldn't believe how incredibly good looking they were, it didn't seem real. They were both tall, one of them having medium brown hair, wearing a navy blue beanie. I could see slightly faded curls peeking through the sides of his warm headgear and they framed his chiseled jaw perfectly. His eyes were a different kind of green, they were unique, but God were they beautiful. His lips were somewhat heart shaped and I couldn't help but notice how pink they were, they looked plump. I've never seen a guy without chapped lips before, his seemed so vibrant and moisturized. His sheer plain white t-shirt exposed two swallows tattooed onto his collar bones, and what seemed to be a large butterfly on top of his abdomen. I was curious to know if he had an even bigger collection of the permanent art, especially since his arms were covered by the sleeves of his red flannel. My eyes wandered to the lower half of his body, skimming over his intensely fit legs that were dressed in tighter-than-normal black skinny jeans, one pant showing off a rip above his left knee. He completed his attire with brown, worn out boots. Normally, I would complain to myself about contrasting the two dark colors, but he somehow managed to pull it off. After realizing how long I had been staring at him, my eyes snapped to the floor and I instantly felt my cheeks become rosier than ever. "Hello! Kylie, is it? I'm Harry. It's a pleasure to finally meet you." He spoke with a beautiful English accent and a heart warming smile, showing off a perfect set of white teeth as he reached his hand over the couch between us. I could still feel my face heating up as I nodded slighty, reaching my hand out to meet his. "It's nice to meet you, too." I smiled awkwardly and looked over at the blonde boy standing next to him. He had beautiful ocean eyes and his hair was styled into a perfect quiff, he wore a light gray hoodie and dark blue jeans with a pair of white nikes. When we locked eyes he smiled and greeted me, I was right about hearing an Irish accent earlier. "I'm Niall, happy to meetcha." We then shook hands and immediately, it became silent. Why wasn't I speaking? Say something. Anything. Suddenly , my mom broke the ice. "Okay, well...seems like you'll be able to get along nicely. I'll be upstairs in my office if anyone needs me." She flashed a quick smile after pecking me on the cheek with her lips, and within seconds she was gone. I glanced at the floor searching for words, trying to think of what to say as my sister and the boys picked up on their previous conversation. I was NOT acting like myself and I grew frustrated because of it. When I reached the conclusion that all I would accomplish was looking stupid, I turned on my heel and slowly made my way up the stairs. So much for me acting like the usual bitch I am. "Hey..wait!" Harry called. I plopped back down the end of the stairs and peered into the room. "Do we scare you? What makes you think you can get out of this friendship so easily?" His tone was playful, he then patted the space between him and Niall on the couch, indicating that he wanted me to sit. I blinked a few times before realizing his invitation. I hesitantly made my way over to the couch, taking my time to sit in the space between the two attractive males. I looked at Kendall, who was still seated on the chair on the opposite side, giving her a look of fear. Luckily, she caught on and started a new conversation.

"So! There's this party tonight..at Mikey's." She spoke while grinning, darting her eyes back and forth from Harry to Niall. I then looked at them waiting for a response, Harry pursed his lips and smirked. "Let's go." He simply stated. Niall laughed a bit and looked at Kendall. "All of us? Can Kylie come with?" The blonde boy asked, finding my eyes and smiling at me. I've been to parties with Kendall and her friends plenty of times before, but most of them were girls and if any guys were with us, I had already known them for awhile. This situation was a lot more awkward than my other experiences. "Oh, uh. I don't know, I don't think I should." I debated. Both boys frowned and Harry looked down at me, shifting his weight. My mouth slightly agape as I looked into his bright eyes. "Why not? You're not too young, are you?" He asked with a concerned expression.

"Well, I-"

"Of course she's not too young, she's 18. She can come with us. Don't be so modest, Ky." Kendall interrupted, a bright smile on her face. My jaw almost dropping a second time in the past 20 minutes. I can't believe she just lied. Why would she say I was two years older than I really am? She was so casual with it, and I was just confused. I was more than okay being 16 at other parties before, her friends were well aware of my age and they still wanted me to be with them. What is going on?

"Well that's perfect then! It all works out well." Niall beamed. If only he knew. The corners of Harry's mouth lifted, his eyes expressing satisfaction. "Yeah, we're good to go. What time does it start?"

"10:00. It ends at like, 3:00." Kendall quickly answered. The whole time they spoke, I sat there with my jaw clenched. I was in such a weird state. What the hell is gonna happen? Ken has never lied to her friends about my age before.

And then, something clicked.

I have a feeling this party won't be anything like the ones I've been to in the past.
