I stare out to the sunset, the cold wind biting at my skin. I know I'm not safe here I'll never be safe, he'll find me and it will happen again. I slouch down into the bench, my hair goes wild as the wind picks up my fingers begin to feel numb, but in the distance, I hear the echo of footsteps. He's here. I feel my heart pounding against my chest, my breathing quickens. I-I don't know what to do, I should know I've been in this situation three other times already. My mind is blank. I try to say something but I'm shut down by the cold, blunt object against my head. Fear immobilises my body, I hear 7 cold and bitter words. This is how your fate will always end. Then the gun goes off and darkness consumes me.
This time it will be fire.
I wake up and my lungs begged for air, my head was pounding... obviously, it's not every day you can wake up after getting shot in the head. Well I can't technically call it waking up it's more like being reborn, let's get this straight I've only been zero once and that was over 20 years ago but I've been 16 four times. How you may ask, simple answer. I don't know. I'm sure if you do a plenty of research you may get an answer logical or not but at least it will be an answer. As I gather my bearings, I come to an answer that's not hard to miss. Cornfield, of all the place I could have awoken in it's a cornfield, technically I woke up in a small body of water but that is in the corn field. And I still don't know where I am, but I head in a direction, which I think is north but I have no clue.
After an hour of walking, I finally find a white picket fence and beyond that, a road. I pick up the pace and jump the fence... looking less graceful than it should have but I'm not a free runner. After I jump the fence I notice how dry and scratchy my throat is, but annoyingly and unfortunately I don't have water. But it shouldn't be too long until I find a shop or a stand or something.
I stagger down the road, trying to keep a clear head to avoid my chances of falling... I hope it works like that. But what feels like centuries of walking I finally reach a town, my legs feel like jelly I want to lie down and rest but my hope is right in front of me. But... I just- I just don't know anymore.
Apparently, I did... I kept walking and didn't stop.
When I got into the town, my throat felt like sandpaper... I'm pretty sure that's its call to drink something refreshing. I walk around to find a local shop or a bar but I just got stares, they know I'm an outsider. I'm not trusted. After searching for 10 or so minutes I stumble across something its kinda like a convenience store but sells liquor as well as all the other varieties of drinks. As soon as I walk in I get the stare, then I hear.
"And someone's a wash up"
Irony I think, but instead of a snarky remark back I head to the washroom and he was right... I looked like shit. I tried to tidy myself up as much as I possibly could but nothing could really fix the mess I was in without the right utensils. I decided since I didn't have any cash on my I could exactly by myself a drink so I decided to drink the tap water, which I might say wasn't that bad. So after I looked presentable enough I decided to head out of the washrooms just as I was going to open the door I hear one of the men talking.
"You hear about that fire in Canada?"
One of the men yells over the noise
"How the fuck was there are fire in Canada isn't that place cold or something"
"Yes you nob" he answered back "Apparently killed 104 people 31 injured"
My body went numb; I cause so much grief and destruction.
I was the cause of 104 people dying, I am the soul definition of destruction.
