I awake the cold air blowing in my face, stinging my eyes as I look at my house. I get up walk on the snow covered ground, and stagger towards the door. I slip on the ice and fall flat on my face, the taste of blood fills my mouth. I put my spare shoes and socks that I keep outside along with my backpack that leans on my squat white house. I walk into the weed filled yard and wait for the bus to come around my almost grey neighborhood.

My school bus for my new school comes up against my battered curb. It's bleached yellow side almost red with rust points directly at me, awaiting me. It's old doors open creakily to let in my passage. The bus driver, as old as the bus looks at me glumly "Get on" he says in a grumpy irritated voice. I get on and look around at all the other students, just as bored and grumpy as the bus driver. I take a seat in the back as usual where Titus and me sits "hello" I say "hey L" he replies. That's his nickname for me L. I sit down and we start moving. When an hour passes, we finally arrive at the school. Bronwyn's Junior High. Nobody likes it here, the only reason students come here is because this is the only school in the state that doesn't cost an arm and a leg just to go there for a day. I mostly just read because the subjects they teach are boring, and you usually come back every day with nothing in your mind except having to bear that you will need to come back to the dull red school building the next day. The book I was reading was a short story about a kind octopus and a mean crab. My and Titus read it aloud:

"As the ocean waves roll gently onto the bright golden sand many creatures get trapped in the tide pools, as they sit and wait for the cool refreshing tide to come and free them from their cages. Many children enjoy seeing them, gently touching them and, feeling the smooth texture of the soft octopus, the hard spiny texture of a crab. Some children dare to assist the creatures in their journey back to the great ocean. But will the octopus crab accept this gesture of compassion? The octopus the smarter of the two decides that he will take the risk and accept the peace offering of the gentle humans.

The crab on the other hand his heart and brain as hard and dull as his outside decides to pinch and claw at the helping humans as he grabs and misses their small hands, the octopus slowly and carefully grabs onto the child's hand. As one child giggles and pets her new octopus friend the other child longs for the crab to accept his peace offering, still the stubborn crab refuses and grabs hard onto the child's soft hand causing the child to burst into tears as he runs to his sister holding the octopus. The sister and the octopus being very caring she lefts her still crying brother hold the soft squishy octopus, before the release her back into the cool safe ocean. As the brother giggles as the sister did, they slowly walk towards the ocean, carefully holding her in their small hands, they bend down and release her back into her home, as she majestically swims away using her eight long tentacles she waves goodbye to her kind saviours."

As the two happy children walk back to their mother, the crab longs to be brought back as well, the sister walks towards the small tide pool, the brother warns her about the anger of the crab. The sister thanks her brother for the kind informative warning, the both walk back to meet their mother as they walk back to the safety of their own miniature ocean known has their home. As the crab watches them leave he clicks his claws angrily, and now must wait for the tide to come back in twelve hours time." My bus drops me off back at home. I see my father standing at the door, awaiting my arrival. " I talked to your mother, and she agreed to let you back inside the house." He said in his calm smooth voice " On one condition, no more going out of your room after curfew. " I promise" I say, fingers crossed behind my back
