Chapter One:

It's only the beginning

I looked around me, looking to see if anyone was watching me. I started to feel uneasy doing this, like someone is going to catch me do it and think I'm using magic, which is not allowed in this world. "It's fine sweetheart! Just run right to it, and don't worry about if people are watching. They'll just think their crazy themselves!" I hear my dad, Sirius Black, say from beside me. I felt him squeeze my shoulder in encouragement. I laughed at the joke he managed to say in this nervous time for me. "Now, Megan. Just hold on to your trolley tight and run!" He put a hand on my back in terms for me to start running, so I did. "I'll be right behind you!" I hear him yell to me just as I was about to collide with the wall.

I closed my eyes immediately ready for the impact, but instead, I came to a complete stop, colliding into someone else's trolley. "Oh! I'm so sorry!" I say immediately going around my trolley to help and pick up the strangers and my stuff. "Hey! Watch whe---... Oh, it's fine, it was just an accident." I heard a boy's voice sound in front of me. I looked up to the stranger and immediately noticed his pale blonde, almost white hair. "I'm Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." The boy greeted me. "What's your name?" He added as we gathered up the last of the things from the ground. "Megan! Come here." I hear my father's stern voice say behind me. Startled, I look behind me to find him staring at someone who was off to the side of us. Looking to whom, I noticed a man with the same hair colour as Draco, but with much longer hair and dressed in all black.

"Draco, get over here." And immediately Draco put his stuff on his trolley and made his way to his father with it. I took notice in how his father and mine never lost eye contact, as I made my way to my own father. I kept my head down, not to try and make eye contact with any of them. "We do not talk to them." I hear Draco's father say with disgust and emphasis on 'them'. What was wrong with us? "Yes father." I was taken aback by Draco's words. And with that the Malfoy's all went their way. As soon as they went past us, I watched as Draco looked back and stole a glance my way, with an apologetic look.

"Dad, what did he mean by that?" I ask my father as I looked up to him. It took a moment for him to finally look down at me with a smile and say, "I wouldn't worry too much about them sweetheart." Was all he said as he knelled down next to me, turning me to face him. He placed his hands on my shoulders and kept smiling. "I want you to make the best of this year Megan. The first year is always the best." he whispered. "I want you to have fun, make friends, and don't be afraid to explore a bit. I want you to send me a letter to tell me all about it. I know you'll knock 'em died darling." His words were of encouragement to me. But I was still nervous coming to a new school, a much bigger one at that. At that moment, I heard a train whistle from afar, coming up the tracks. "I'm not ready for this daddy." I say with worry in my voice. He knew I was scared, because I only rarely used daddy when I was scared. "Awwh, honey, it'll be fine!" He said enthusiastically to brighten my mood, as he took me into his arms and hugged me tight. "You know I love you Megan, and I want nothing but the best for you." He says with his tone being serious and caring. "I love you too dad." I say hugging him back. "But I'm not ready."

"You'll be fine Megan." The train started to roll into the station just as it whistled again. As it rolled to a complete stop my dad hugged me tighter. "If you squeeze any tighter, I think I might burst dad." And with that I felt his chest rumble from his laughter. "Okay, okay. I just love you so much sweetheart. You remind me so much of your mother, Megan." He said as he pulled away from me, still keeping his hands on my arms. "I know dad. You tell me that all the time." We didn't speak of her often but my father always answered any questions I had of her; she died giving birth to me. "Alright kid-o, I guess it's time for you to go now." He says standing up and rubs the top of my head, messing up my hair. "Daaad," I say whilst trying to fix my hair. He chuckles once more before kissing the top of my head.
