"Alyja, are you able to hear me" I slowly open my eyes, I hear voices echoing. Engulfed in confusion, unaware of the recent events that transpired and puzzled by the presence of the police.

"You've taken quite a hit to your head," Elijah mentions.

I'm at a loss for words as a stinging agony overwhelms my mind.

"I don't remember what happened"

"Your partner here explained that you had a significant tumble while intoxicated, leading you to fall down a flight of stairs," police informed.

A gut feeling inside me insisted that it wasn't the truth. However, Elijah's stern stare made me worried that saying the wrong thing would get me in trouble or possibly more hurt.

"yes of course, how could I be so stupid. I must be more mindful of my limits"

"It's okay, just had neighbours calling about a noise complaint" says the 6 foot tall  police officer who looked as if he was from Puerto rican decent

"you guys be safe OK? maybe think about your drinking otherwise next time we might have to arrest you"
