Sofie's POV
"Sofie! Let's go!" My mom yells from the kitchen as I grab my bags.
"Coming!" I say back. It's 6:00am and I'm so ready to get out of this town. I make my way out to the car and throw my bags in the trunk. It doesn't matter how I throw them in because this year it is just my mom and I going. My best friend Casey was going to come with us, but had to stay last minute to watch her nephews.
So it is just me and my mom. Yay.
Don't get me wrong I love my mom, but two weeks just me and her is a little much.To be honest ever since I found out Casey couldn't come with us I've been dreading it. My family has been coming to The Beach House Resort in Myrtle Beach for over 40 years and after going myself for 18 years now, It's like a second home.
We have a timeshare at The Beach House, which means we come the same two weeks each year and the same people are always here too. We really only know two people though. Clayton and his mom Brandi.
Clayton has been coming the same two weeks to The Beach House for as long as I have been and our moms always take the time to catch up while we are there. They live in North Carolina over 6 hours away from us in Kentucky, so this is the only time we see them all year.
Clayton is 18 like me, tan, has shoulder length black curly hair, and plays baseball for an all star team that wins every year. And we haven't talked other than the occasional 'hey' initiated by our moms since we were like 13 and stuck together. The only lines between us are our mom's facebooks.
"Sofie! If you don't get in the car Im leaving you here!" My mom shouts through the car window. I slam the trunk and hop in the back seat so I can sleep the whole way. It is usually about an 8 hour drive and I sleep through all of it.
"Wake me up when we get there," I tell my mom as I slip my airpods in my ears and put on the country station.
*
I only wake up twice the whole trip. First is in Mount Airy, North Carolina. We always stop there and get muffins for breakfast from the Biscuit Ville. I got strawberry and went back to sleep.
The second time is in Bennettsville, South Carolina because we need gas. After we get gas and use the bathroom, I go back to sleep again.
Then finally I wake up to the city of Myrtle Beach. I know as far as beaches go Myrtle isn't everyone's first choice, but I love it. The only thing missing this year is a someone to hang out with.
Whenever we pull into The Beach House parking lot the first two people I see are Clayton and his mom, Brandi. That's when I get the idea. Why not get with Clayton this summer? I'm single. He's hot. So why not?
" Look, it's Brandi and Clayton," My mom says as she pulls into a parking spot and hops out to greet Brandi . I quickly get out and follow her towards them. This year they are driving a beautiful, black Jeep Wrangler that I'm guessing is Clayton's. It's literally my dream car. Maybe Clayton will let me drive it...
"Hi, Brandi!" My mom says as she hugs her.
"Hi, Eliza!" Brandi says as they pull away from their hug.
"Clayton, you've grown another half a foot since last year!" My mom says as she hugs Clayton. My mom was over dramatic, but she's right, Clayton has got at least a couple inches taller and hotter if that is possible. I have to make myself stop staring at him.
"I know! They've just grown up on us! Can you believe they are 18 and going off to college this fall!" Brandi says hugging me.
"I know!" My mom says. "We have to get our bags out, but drinks in 20?" She asks.
"Yes! Meet at my room and we'll walk over together!" Brandi adds as we start to walk away. They are planning on going to the bar across the street, which means I will have a chance to talk to Clayton without our moms around.
After what seems like forever we finally get all our stuff unloaded and up to our room. I decide that I am going to walk down to Clayton's room with my mom and ask Clayton if he wants to go swim.
After I tried to tame my curly hair, and put on my dark green bikini that cuts down just the right amount, we head down to their room. My mom knocks on the door and we wait.
Brandi answers the door and smiles at my mom, "Ready to go?"
"Yes! Bring on the margaritas!" My mom exclaims.
"Yes!" Brandi agrees, "Going for a swim, Sofie?"
"Yeah, I was planning on it. If mom will let me go alone..." I say. I know exactly what to say to get Brandi to tell Clayton to go with me.
"I worry about you going out in the water by yourself," My mom says. She has always been kinda scared of the water.
"Don't worry honey, Clay will go with you," Brandi says falling right into my trap.
"Clay! Go with Sofie to swim, so Eliza doesn't worry," Brandi says back into the room. Clayton comes out almost immediately wearing his swim trunks, smiling his big sexy smile.
So I might have forgot to mention, I've had the biggest crush on Clayton since we were 13 and this year I'm single. So who knows what could happen.
"Okay" Clay says to his mom. "Let's go" he smiles looking at me and steps outside his room towards the breezeway that leads out to the Ocean.
I'm actually hanging out with Clayton.
