Blake's POV: Before he meets Scarlett

"Why is it that the rogues have crossed our borders 17 times in this past month alone and we haven't stopped them?!!!" I yell at my Beta, who is also my best friend, Nick. "Blake I don't know, maybe they know we are weak from not having a Luna yet. Have you chosen a mate to replace her if she doesn't show up?" I growl at that question, how could I possibly choose someone else who isn't my mate to spend my life with and to have my pup's? I have sworn off women completely to keep myself only for my mate. And I will wait as long as I have to until she shows up. There's a knock at my office door that interrupts my thoughts. I open the door and it's Nathan, my delta, third in command. "What is it Nathan?" I ask too tired to really give a second's glance to him. "I'm sorry Alpha Blake but it would seem another rogue has crossed our border." Nathan says sadly. I groan in my head and my wolf Storm growls. "I'll handle it, get me three warriors." Nathan nods and goes to do what I ask. I walk out of my office and go downstairs and outside. I shift into my large black and white spotted wolf and wait for the warriors to get there. I have always been curious to why I have white spots on my face when I'm in wolf form but i can only guess it has to do with my mate. Once the warriors get there we head off trying to find the rogue. After a little while of running I find the most amazing smell in the world, honey and apples. I know instantly it's my mate and I start to run to find her. I see a sliver of black fur before it shoots away from my sight. The smell is coming off the rogue! I run after the rogue trying to see if the rogue has blood on it that could be my mates blood, but I smell no blood just honey and apples. I keep running and i am finally able to catch up to the rogue. I growl lowly and tackle the rogue to the ground. The instant my fur touches the rogues I feel sparks. My mate turns over on her back and tilts her head to the side as a sign of submission. I whimper not wanting my mate to feel inferior to me and i gently nudge her neck with my snout trying to get her to look at me. Her wolf form is so small it looks like a pup. I nuzzle her neck gently and make a purring noise. Storm is trying to come out and claim her as his so no one can take her from us. She suddenly becomes scared but from what I do not know, she starts to whimper more and starts squirming trying to get out from under me. I gently grab her by the scruff of her neck and pick her up. She huffs but it comes out as a growl and Storm coos at her because he thinks it cute that she's mad about her size. As soon as we get back to the warriors they all growl when they see my mate and she whimpers and shakes, I growl at them and mind-link them "SHOW YOUR LUNA RESPECT!" they all look upset by the way they treated their Luna and they mind-link me apologizes. We start walking back to the pack house and my mate squirms in my hold. Realizing she wants to get down and walk I gently let her go, but i stay closer to her side so she can't run away from me again. We continue to walk but as we start getting closer to the pack house she starts to slow down. I notice and walk back to her when she stops completely. I gently nudge her neck with my snout telling her it's fine to keep walking but she doesn't more nor does she lift her head to look at me. I lean my head down so i'm looking up at her and my eyes hold worry. She starts walking again and i can't tell if it's because of me or she just wants to be inside the house. When we reach the house Nathan is standing with his mate talking to some of the other warriors that stayed behind. My mates head shoots up and she stares at Nathan. Storm growls lowly and tells me to move closer to her. "Blake get closer to mate. She's too far away from us and i don't like how she's staring at Nathan." i nod in agreement but before i can move any closer to her than i already am, she shifts back into her human form. Her clothes are still on her small body and her long black and red hair is falling over her shoulders and around her neck till it hits her hip bones. She is sickly thin and pale. "Nick go have the cooks makes food for my mate. I feel like she hasn't had a proper meal in a long time." i mind-link my beta while still staring at my beautiful mate. "Yes Alpha, i am so happy you have found our luna." i just nod. Right after my mate shifts back, Nathan's head shoots back and he turns around completely. He runs straight towards my mate and before i could move in front of her she is in his arms and he is crying. I growl at him for touching my mate and mind-link him "get your hand off my mate and your luna NOW!" Nathan sets my mate down and bows his head towards me " I'm sorry alpha Blake I meant no disrespect to you or to our Luna, but she is my sister and my old pack lead me to believe she was dead. I have not seen her since I was 15 and she was 7." I shift back to my human form and one of my warriors, Justin, gives me a pair of basketball shorts. My mate does not look at me at all when I'm back in human form, " It's alright Nathan I understand, why did you believe her to be dead? Did your old pack say anything about her that would make it seem like that?" I ask trying to move closer to my mate but she just kept moving so she is behind Nathan. "No alpha Blake that's just it, they never mentioned her, that's why I believed her dead." Nathan looks at her and smiles warming. "Scar why haven't you written to me or even tried to come see me? I was so sure alpha Charles would let you come and visit me from time to time." He looks down at her hands as she start to make signs instead of responding to his questions and I look at her confused, "Nathan why isn't she talking?" Storm ask his voice coming out deeper and more rough, he took control because he could sense our mates distress"I am sorry Alpha Storm, my sister cannot talk at all," Nathan gently moves her hair away from her neck and I see teeth marks that are old and have turned into an scar on the side of my mates neck, "she was attacked by a rogue when she was 7 and the rogue destroyed her vocal cords, she is a mute." she looks down and Nathan looks at her as if he understands why. I growl loudly and start to shake from rage, "Alpha Storm please calm down you are scaring Scarlett," Nathan says trying to get me to calm down while keeping my mate from my sight. I look at her from behind her brother back and look down smiling, "Scarlett, I love it, it's perfect." I looks at her and gestures for her to come to me. Her brother nods a little and gently pushes her forward towards me. She walk forward and looks up at me, she is at least 4'9, silky black hair, and the most amazing gray eyes I've ever seen. I smile down at her and gently take her hand. I look at our hand and start to smile more, i feel a thousand sparks shooting up and down my whole body and when she looks back at me, my eyes have gone from blue to black, Storm is out. She whimper slightly and tries to back away. I can tell her wolf is telling her we won't hurt her. Storm growls at her and pulls her into our chest, I bury my face in her neck inhaling deeply, I look back at her and his eyes are blue again. "I'm sorry Scar, I didn't mean to scare you but you smelled like another male from the distance you were at and i knew it was just your brothers scent but I needed to make sure. Storm was angry and i scared you, i'm sorry." i try to look sincere when I say it and she just nod. She turns to her brother and sign a question she wants to ask, since I don't understand sign language yet, her brother will have to translate for her. Her brother looks at her with heartbreak in his eyes, but it quickly turns to anger and he growls loudly. She whimper and I slowly wrap my arms around her waist, and gently pull her behind me. "Nathan calm down you are scaring Scarlett and I don't care that you are her brother no one scares my mate." Her brother looks at the pack border and starts to walk towards it. She must realize what he is going to do and runs in front of him shaking her head. "Scarlett move, i don't care what you say to me, i am going to kill every last one of them!" She just keeps shaking her head at him and looking at him with pleading eyes to calm down. "Scar how can you expect me to calm down after finding out what they did to you?!" I walk over to them and look at her brother than at her, "who did what to Scarlett?" I ask confused. Her brothers eyes turn even darker and he looks at me "I will only tell you if you back away, i don't want you to scare Scarlett" I do what he ask, even though i'm the alpha and i don't take orders from anyone.....but Scarlett, and backs away. In the course of a second I go from calm to feral mad. "THEY DID WHAT TO HER?!" I don't wait for an answer before I shifts into my wolf and run over the pack border to kill every last person in her old pack. How could they abuse her?! She is so small and frail i couldn't imagine anyone hurting her for any reason!! I keep running and i can sense Nathan behind me and i can smell Scarlett trying to keep up with us. Once i've reached her old pack house i shift back and let Storm have control. Storm may be more hot-headed than me but he will do whatever it takes to keep our mate safe. Scarlett is suddenly in front of me in her human form and her eyes are bigger than i've seen them in the short time i've known her. Storm's eyes soften at the sight of our mate and he pulls her to our chest. "Scarlett stay within arms reach of me at all times while we are here." Storm says trying to be gently while standing on the porch of the people who abused our tiny mate. As soon as Scarlett pulls away and stands beside me the door flies open. "YOU WORTHLESS PIECE OF TRASH! HOW DARE YOU GO OFF OUR LAND AND GET INTO TROUBLE WITH ANOTHER PACK!!" someone, who i'm guessing is the alpha of this pack, yells at Scarlett. Scarlett whimpers and starts to back away but the man grabs her arm and pulls her into the house and slaps her so hard across the face she falls to the floor crying. At that exact moment me and Storm see red, we grab the man by the neck and hold him against a wall. "DON'T YOU EVER TOUCH MY MATE AGAIN!!" Storm growls at the man. The man's eyes go wide and he looks at Scarlett, "i was right to reject you Scarlett. You are just a piece of trash and if Alpha Storm and Blake want you as a mate so be it. Get off our territory. You are no longer part of Bright Dawn pack." the man spits at scarlett and she slowly gets up with her brothers help.
