"Remember" The haunting words continued to play through Thomas's mind the rest of the night. What did it mean? He tried to remember his whole life, but he couldn't remember anything about something like this. When he went to get breakfast, he asked his mum if she could remember anything happening to him. "Mm, no, not really," she answered. "We've just lived a pretty normal life." As he sat down, an image was forced into his mind. There were lockers, covered in blood, and a trail on the floor. He grimaced as his mind followed the trail, turning to find a girl with blood dripping from her stomach, hanging from a noose, the word Remember painted in blood on the wall. He grimaced once more as the image was pushed out of his mind. "You alright honey?" His mum asked as she put a bowl of eggs on the table.
"Yeah, you OK, freak," Stephen said.
"I'm fine," Thomas said, devouring the eggs. "Hey mum, can I go ride around town?"
"Yeah, that's fine," she said. "You could use a bit of exercise." He got up from the table and walked out the door, got on his bike and rode off. His first stop was the school. It had been closed temporarily for investigation. When he got there, it was deserted. He climbed a fence into the yard and tried the back door. It opened. He walked in and looked around. He went to the locker area and looked for clues. He turned left and saw a red splatter on the ground. He turned the corner to find the same woman from his vision. She was stripped naked, with several holes in her stomach. He looked at the wall, but instead of the word remember, there was a different message. The Reapers will get you. They always do. He turned back to the body, but it was gone and the man in black was standing where she had been. "W-who are you?" Thomas stuttered, walking backwards. The man started to walk slowly. "I can be anyone," he said. His cloak suddenly glowed brightly, and Thomas had to look away. When the glow subsided, the man was gone and his mum was standing there. He changed again into Stephen, Mr Smith and the dead girl. "But really, I am," he said, changing back. "The Reaper!" He suddenly broke into a sprint, his scythe out. Thomas turned around and started to run. He turned a corner, right into the Reaper. He turned back, but he was surrounded by multiple Reapers. They were closing in. He ran towards one, intending to ram one, but instead he went right through it. "What?" He asked, stopping. He turned around to see one Reaper standing there. Thomas resumed his running. The Reaper's voice sounded through the entire school. "Give up." Thomas found the front door, opened it and ran out. He grabbed his phone and called the police.
"Hello, this is 9-1-1, what's your emergency?" Sounded a female voice.
"Help! I found a dead body in the school and there's a man with a weapon chasing me!"
"Hold tight sir, we are sending a squad there now." The police were there in five minutes. They parked their cars in front of the school in a defensive position and got out, aiming their weapons at the building. One officer got Thomas and pulled him to safety. Later, Thomas sat on the car in a blanket. The officers had been asking questions about what happened and why he was there. He said he was riding and he had seen the body and gone to investigate. He didn't say anything about the writing, the Reaper shape-shifting or what he had said to Thomas. Suddenly, he heard a voice. "Meet me at the school tomorrow. Five o-clock. Come alone." Thomas looked for the origin of the voice, but found no one. The police were unfazed, as if they hadn't heard it.
