Prologue:

An image wrangled itself into my subconsciousness. The most beautiful face I have ever seen belonging to a stunning figured girl stood smiling and laughing with her friends as they wondered in the park.

Raven black curls framed tear drop shaped face. Large oval eyes the colour of crystal clear water. Her slim frame had curves in all the right places and the girls at school would kill for a body like this. While staring in awe my whole being screamed MATE!

Mate? But I had never seen this woman before me in my life. My mind must be playing tricks on me again I think as I get ready for the day.

My father has always told me that my mating instincts have always been there and that there is no hurry and apparently I already have a mate.

Kind of.

She is my girlfriend and my father says we are destined for each other but my soul does not scream mate when I am near her like it did with the girl of my dreams last night and I fear that she may never show up or that she may reject me. Because, surely, a girl like her would already have a boyfriend or a mate yet she seemed so innocent and untouched.

I may seem afraid but its because every time this happens I get my hopes up and I end up being crushed because I cant find her. Yet I feel that’s this time is different. I feel her presents and it is as if I can hear her thoughts but not, cause I have not met her yet.

I really hope I do find her because I feel it is too real this time and if I don’t find her I will be broken beyond repair because I need her and I cant explain this to Lindsay because she just wont understand at all.

She is only human after all. Wait, no. She just wants you to believe that. She is a very powerful witch and has a terrible temper. She is a spoilt brat and I am only with her because my father, with his twisted mind, believes we are soul mates. I thought that way too at first but then I saw the real side of her that most people get to see and I can tell you now it isn’t nice.

Ha! How stupid is she? Thinking that I actually love her. She is one bitch you should not mess with because the humans think her dad is high up and supposedly powerful. This is kind of true in the supernatural world but she is not as high a rank as me.

Her dad is a jerk and he acts as if no one is better than him. He is a total jerk but I have to say I have come to love Lindsay a little bit.

Not much but enough to put up with her and to look all lovey dovey in front of everyone and I can handle her kisses but she forces me to have sex with her and does not understand why I do not make love to her willingly as we have been together for about 3 or 4 years now, I don’t know, and she still has to force/rape me. It really depends on her mood.

God, she says that I will be down on one knee and proposing by the time graduation ball comes around next year when I am supposedly going off to ‘military’ school to train me for a greater good.

Urg!

But little did everyone else know that I was suppose to become leader of my clan and I am suppose to have a wife for the clan or else I will not be able to claim the position even if I find my soul mate. I will not have another chance until I am 21.

Though I daresay that I do not think my father will last that long. He is nearing his 10,000th birthday, one of the oldest of our kind in the world. When he passes the role over to me he will become one of the people on the council of Elders because I will be of age and he will be out of his right mind to lead a clan so I need to be quick and find the girl of my dreams.

Damn that sounded so cheesy and I am running late.

The problem is that I only know what this girl looks like and that’s not much to go on but I have a feeling I know her name. I just cant place my finger on it. Wait! I remember.
