I'm walking home from the local history museum. I look up and see the entrance to a park. The sign says Ulagohosdi Park. I'm not sure what it means but it sure does look interesting. I go to take a look see. I notice that the park is woodsy and has lots of pine trees and foliage.
I walk forward noticing at how dusty the road is by the red marks on my white sneakers. I rest my hand on the wood of the sign to the side of the road and notice the smooth surface. The sign is completely flat and free of chipping. I stand there a moment and admire the effect of weathering on the sign.
I finish looking at the sign and walk forward into the park. Trees are on each side of the dirt road I am walking on. The trees are enormous they are at least twenty to thirty feet tall. The only place I don't see trees is on the road in front of me. I keep wondering how big this park is and how long it will take me to walk threw it.
I finally see a break in the trees after walking twenty minutes. It appears to be a sign of some sort. I don't understand what it says but it has a arrow pointing north and an arrow pointing south. I don't know which road I should take. The road going south is covered in trail markers and I can see tracks made by previous hikers. The road going north is littered with dense foliage and has no clear road markings.
I decided I was going to have an adventure today so against my better judgement I decided to go north.
I walk forward feeling the crunch of dead leaves and wood chips beneath my feet. I walk along keeping my hands out in front of me hoping I don't walk into a spider web. Which of course is the next thing I walk into. I scream like an idiot feeling the sticky web get between my fingers. I jump up and down while screaming.
(Very idiotic by the way. Especially if there are bigger animals in the forest besides you.)
I finally come to my sense and wipe the spider webbing off on a dry leaf. My hands are dry-ish and I am glad to finally be rid of the sticky webbing. I walk/scurry quickly to a different area of the forest. I see the a dirt trail up a head and run towards it. I see fresh tracks of hikers and see a piece of my Uncle Dannie's old backpack tied to a tree.
I smile in relief to find one of my Uncle Dannie's trail markers. I notice that a set of fresh boot prints are leading away from the marker and to another trail. I pick up the pace knowing Uncle Dannie won't be that far up the trail. I run forward and start on the trail.
I start thinking about what I'm going to tell Uncle Dannie. I have to think about what I'm going to say to my uncle. He always told me to be careful and not go walking without an experienced hiker. I know he's not going to be happy when I tell him that I just wanted to go on an adventure.
I walk forward another mile and smell pancakes frying. I run forward because come on PANCAKES. I then highly regret it as I see Uncle Dannie chewing out a poor park ranger. He's holding up a picture of me and telling the ranger something I'm glad I can't hear. He looks mad.
I tip toe into the camp site and try to grab a pancake without anyone seeing me. Which of course is when my uncle turns around and sees me with syrup all over my face. I give up trying to hide and walk up to my uncle. I see that he looks more relieved than angry after he spots me. I quickly give my story before he decides to speak.
I give my story and my uncle listened to all of it. He seems fine after I promise to never do it again. Come on guys uncle are cool.
(Especially aunts. Have to say something for all mys fellow aunts)
(Then the dreaded but come out.)
But I have to call your parents and tell them your safe. Dannie call my parents my heart dropping with every digit. My uncle hands me my phone and I hear the sounds of my parents screaming in my ear.
Mom: WHERE WERE YOU YOUNG LADY!
Dad: I MISSED A FOOTBALL GAME BECAUSE OF THIS WHO-HAW.
I tell them what happened and then I hear the reply.
Mom: You could have tripped into a well and fell over a volcano.
Dad: That's fine sweetie just as long as their were no boys.
Yes. These two people are my parents. They seemed fine after awhile. Dad calmed Mom down and Mom told Dad the football game was recorded on the television.
Dad: You know were taking your sneakers until we know we can tomrust you with comfy shoes.
Mom: Your grounding will be the perfect opportunity to try wearing heels.
My punishments were icky but not that bad. I just had to stay near areas I knew don't make you walk around and I could be barefoot at home.
So that was an adventure in Ulagohosdi Park.
