Laurance's POV

Garroth lately has been claiming he has this girlfriend, but it's obvious he's just trying to hide something. It tears me up inside... he shouldn't have to make excuses. I've always thought that he's using the whole "girlfriend thing" as a coverup for something. One time he said he was going out with "her" for ice cream, saying that she was sooo excited for the date. I followed him to the park to find him alone sitting on a bench with his head in his hands. I almost cried, tears threatened to drop. I just sat there, crouched in a ball, staring at the concrete below me.

Why..?

*Drip.*

A tear.

I sniffled, wiping my nose with my jacket's sleeve. I couldn't bear to watch him sitting there, alone. I wanted to run to him, embrace him, tell him I'd always be there for him...

An hour passed and I'm still here, at the park, hiding behind a trashcan.
I'm pathetic...

I couldn't go up to him, he'd hate me if he knew I followed him. I just stood up slowly and ran. I ran away from the awful sight. As I ran I rubbed my eyes to stop the tears. The stars twinkled above me as I waited for the crosswalk light to flicker to "walk".

Garroth's POV

"Yoooo we were all invited to a totally SIIIICCCK par-tay~ tonight! You guys wanna come?" Travis... why... "No, I'm... going to my girlfriend's house later..?" That excuse always works. "Alright, how 'bout you Laurance?" Laurance looks over his shoulder from the couch at Travis. "I'll stay here with Garroth so he's not lonely until he leaves." What? No! That's the whole point why I'm not going! I just... want to be alone... "All right, well there's pizza in the fridge if you guys want dinner or something. See ya guys later!" And with that, the door slams shut. They're gone. And now I'm stuck with Laurance.

Laurance's POV

An hour has passed as Garroth and I sat on the couch, watching TV. I can't help but keep replaying that memory from last night... I look over and gazed into his eyes. They were red and puffy, with dark bags hanging low below them. "Hey garroth, when are you going to your girlfriend's house?" I asked him with hesitation. "Oh! Uh, l-later..." he stuttered, glancing to me once quickly, then returning his blank stare into the TV. "Garroth..." I breathed out silently, so faint I could barely hear my cry of worry myself. He looks terrible... like he hasn't slept in days.

But I need to know.

I picked up the remote and clicked off the TV. He slowly turned his head towards me, saddened that his only escape from any conversation had been taken away. I still can't look at him without bursting into tears. I put my elbows on my spread knees, folding my hands together. I stare at the ground, afraid to even look at the one I love.

I finally was able to call out his name without jerking tears. "Garroth..." I pleaded. "I know where you go..." I lifted my head and looked into his tear filled eyes, which got my own to come out.

"Why..?" I breathed out.

Nothing. Just the image of a broken man.
