Aeviternal Pain

I insulted the god of love
He's not merciful like a dove.
Punished me with a thing called love
The one thing I can never have.

I compared my arrows with his,
And he got angry out of bliss,
A golden arrow just for me,
Arrow made of lead for Daphne.

Eros struck us with his arrows,
My heart wasn't anymore hollow,
Where Daphne went, I will follow.
"Can I have your heart to borrow?"

She ran, she truly hated me,
That's the awful truth that hurt thee.
Daphne's wish was to be a tree,
So she can never be with me.

Transformed into a laurel tree,
I was so hurt definitely.
I gave in to love for Daphne,
Foolish and heartbroken, truly.

Laurel tree's leaves will not decay,
An aeviternal pain I'll pay.
Her leaves are the prize of winners,
Not for me for I'm a loser.
