After the bone narrow test I decided to go for a walk around the hospital while I wait for the results. I needed to think, clear my mind and relax for a bit before Doc tells me the Cancer is definitely back. Just for a few moments before I have to go through the stress, tiredness, weakness all over again for the next few months. I need a break. I don’t really know where I am or where I am going even through I normally know the hospital like the back of my hand, but today I just can’t be bothered to think.
Why can’t I just have a normal life, like in those cliche movies and books where I could just be one of those nerds at school but actually look like a Victoria’s Secret model. Everyone at school bullies me but one day a Sexy Calvin Klein model who is actually the most popular guy in school sweeps me off my feet and we become that cute couple that every girl envies and live happily ever after? But no. I am an ugly nobody with no parents, and I could die any minute. Stupid life!
“Excuse me but do you think you could help me?” A soft and weak voice asked while interrupting my train of thought.
“Sure what’s the problem?”
“I kind of got a little lost. About half an hour ago I left my room to go for a walk and now I don’t know how to get back”
“Do you know what part of the hospital you are in?”
“Well, I don’t really know what the actually part of the hospital is called but it is the part where they keep young Cancer patents while they start Chemotherapy”
Once I realised where we were I knew how to get to that part of the hospital. It is where I will probably be staying for the first week of my treatment.
“I know where that is. I have actually stayed there a few times and I will probably have to move in there again soon” I told her while starting to walk down the hallway.
“You have Cancer too?” The girl asked.
“Well I just had a test to see if it has come back because I did have it in the past. I am almost certain that it is back”
“Well it is my second time having Cancer and I promised my family that I will not stop fighting it”
“Yeah, being positive really helps you get through it easier. Can I just ask, How old are you?”
“Right, My name is Ava West and I am 15. What about you?”
“I’m Jacinta Colette-Meyer and I am 17. Anyway is this where you are meant to be?”
“Yes thank you so much, this is my room right here.”
“Okay good well I will see you around”
“Actually do you think you could come visit me one day because I don’t really get any visitors and it is really boring in here. I will probably have to stay another week or two”
“Sure I will come by tomorrow. That is if I am not already sharing the room with you” I said while looking at the spare empty bed next to her one.
“Think positive. You don’t have Cancer again. And I will see you tomorrow when you come visit, not stay. Promise me you will only visit” I laughed at her reply. I like this girl, she has actually brought a smile to my face, and I never smile in a hospital.
“Fine. I promise that I will only visit you and not become a roommate. Now I have to leave and go she the Doc because he probably thinks I ran. Bye” Now it was her turn to laugh.
“Bye Jacinta. And you better come visit me or I will hunt you down, or get my friend to do it” She yelled as I walked out of her room giving her one last wave.
