*SPOILER ALERT* - Don't copy my story!
Image: #TheLifeBriefI’m in love with a soldier, and I don't know what I'm doing!
It started out as a joke
“Soldiers are hawt!” Ify said.
“Soldiers are soldiers" I replied.Soldiers are definitely soldiers. Hard hearted, mean and annoying. They think they have the power to do whatever they like. Command respect and talk to anybody in an I'll mannered way because they've been given small authority. Mtchew! Who cares about them!!!
Oh well, not until I met him.It was a stressful day, nothing to write home about, exhausted from the rigorous training and drills, my body needed an amazing pamper and I was in no mood for anything!
Just then Ify came along."Won't you have lunch"
I put up a weak face, "So tired, dear. Can you get food for me?" I winked at her."Nope, get up!"
As we struggled to get me up, that's when I sighted him from a distance.
He just stood out from the others, one would mistake him for a 'normal' and as he approached the skin on his bones danced to the rhythm of his steps; and his chest, oh my, the way they vibrated, like broken rocks falling down the mountain top, just the way I like my men. His abs stuck to his uniform like they were made for each other. His face, though firm with after maths of the war, gave relief to a soul, and as he smiled to a colleague, I felt heaven give me hugs.
“Otondo!!! He said calling out to us, “double up!”.
The rhythm of his voice left a lasting memory, I thought it was just a normal thing, until every being of mine longed to see him again. See seven red moons will come and go before I go head over heels for a man (Don't look at me like that 😢) so the eagerness to see him again felt awkward.
Through out the day, I consciously passed by the soldiers quarters, hoping our paths would cross.
The sun slowly sang it's goodbye song as it paved way for the moon to cuddle us with its lullaby. I didn't get to see him again. But why am I this way?
I lay on my bed, tossing here and there, it’s lights out but my inner lights aren’t out. Whew! This doesn't look good, I came to serve my fatherland as I was told, and not this, whatever it is…
I think I’m crushing on a soldier. And I need help.
