We walked Simultaneously hand in hand,

The glistening of the full moon directly overhead.

We stop, suddenly and took a seat in the soft succulent sand.

Our eyes met and time and place suddenly came to a still.

It was just us, in that moment gazing into each other's eyes.

She shook a little burying herself in my arms protecting her from the chill,

The breeze swayed and our bodies became in motion to the rhythm of the wind.

We sat there for an hour or two.

With no words spoken but who needs words,

When a love is so strong that our hearts communicate and in that moment, I knew,

This girl which I barely know Is the girl I want to spend my life with.

She pushes her scarf back to reveal her bald head which some find unappealing.

Where I define it as beauty and strength.

My hands pull her in tighter trying to savor these moments.

Who would have known that when one year had passed I would be left waiting,

Waiting beside her not knowing of what is to come,

I felt as if I was in a black room trying to find light.

I look at the monitor to see if her heart was still beating.

I try to keep calm but I cannot hide my fear that the woman I love may not be mine tonight.

How different the times of us on the beach were to this moment,

One filled with joy and laughter and another filled with loneliness.

I walk over to a woman now unrecognizable.

With her glowing skin turning pale and her once charming smile is  no longer holiness,

I touch her ice hand and hold it tighter hoping she can feel my love.

Or the times we once shared.

I kiss her forehead ever so gently.

By that time it is too late and my heart is broken and I cannot bare,

That my one true love is no longer there.

I close my eyes to remember the night on the beach,

As the sun rose upon the horizon and reflected upon the sand.

She said to me that her time was nearly up,

But fear did not faze her as it did with me so to comfort my pain she tightly held my hand.

We savored our time together as if it were our last,

Oh how quickly those delightful moments past.
