My opinion on Brataley's horse situation.

Hiya! So I just got done watching all of Bratalay's horse videos, and I'm in awe. So to start off, these parents promised their two daughters that they would get any animal they wanted when they reached 4,000,000 subscribers.

Obviously, that happened. So one girl asked them for a bunny, but the other one asked for a horse. (Keep in mind that this girl had only been taking lessons for a couple of weeks.)

So, at the very beginning of one of their videos, the dad says that a horse has to be at least 3 years old until you can ride it, and then he said that he didn't know that.

First off, that statement isn't entirely true. It just depends on the horse. And second, the dad stated that he didn't know, that is a red flag, and it tells me that they are inexperienced.

Second off, this girl had only been taking lessons for a few weeks, and every girl goes through a pony phase. So I fear that it's just a phase, and the parents are just going to buy a horse, and then the girl will get bored of it, and then they will sell it. Sad huh?

So later in the video, they go to the barn, and we see the horse. Well, the pony (keep this in mind), and it is three years old.

A lot of people think that you can start a horse when their knees "lock up" which is the process when the cartilage around the knee hardens into bone (or something like that). But that's far from true, because there are many other joints and muscles that aren't developed yet. That can cause injury, and early arthritis in horses.

Exhibit A, my old horse Mighty was started when she was 3, and they found arthritis in her hocks, on the other hand, my current horse Riley was started when he was 5, and his joints are perfectly healthy and move fine.

Anyways back to Bratayley. So this girl is all excited over this little horse, and in the wildness, you can hear the trainer say, "green horse green rider" and, "you're crazy" to the parents. I think that she has some knowledge in what she's doing.

But what the worst thing about this whole situation is this. The horse isn't broken in yet. You can't even saddle and ride her yet. And you have a girl who has only a small bit of experience. It's a recipe for disaster.

In my opinion, they should've leased a horse first, to make sure that the girl is really ready for the responsibility of owning a horse.

I would still be leading a horse now if I could, but me and Riley clicked and I really couldn't be happier. But this girl is sort of timid around this horse. Heck, she can't even feed it a carrot without acting like it's going to attack her.

So my final word is that I think they should've done more research before jumping into the ownership of a horse. The girl needed more experience in my opinion, and the same for the horse. I just think that they should've leased at first to see if they were really going to take in the responsibility.

But I am not wishing anything bad upon them. I really hope that they have the best of luck with their horse.

Cheers!
