A New Way To Kill

Chapter 1

Death. In the beginning nobody really cared how it came about through murder,disease or simply old age. The result was the same either way. However the leader of the Shinigami, Rokai, was disgusted my the brutish and psychotic manner in which the others were killing people. Though his main problem was finding a way to solve this problem. In general he hated humans. The violence and malice they treated each other with. But there were a few of them who didn't act like that, and it was for those few that he didn't want them to feel afraid of the pain of death.

"Ryuk!" Rokai shouted
"You called" Ryuk said standing behind him with a big grin in his face
"I need your help."
"Why high leader, what a surprise." His grin didn't shift. It was like it was molded into him, unable to change.
"You already know what I'm about to ask." Rokai said
"The only thing you can think about recently" Ryuk inquired
"Yes"

The two wandered down a path in their apocalyptic world, dead plants surrounding them like a disease.
"We all know that human death is necessary to prevent overpopulation but the way they're being killed is sickly and I will no longer tolerate it!" Rokai told him
"So you want to find a way to make it as painless as possible. Sounds like a waste of time."
"Maybe but they all don't deserve to suffer"
"If you believe that then how are you gonna find a way?" Ryuk said his smile only widening
"I'll go to the human world" Rokai said determinately
"Yeah right." Ryuk's laughter could be heard for miles it was that intense.
"I've found the behavior of the savages known as people fascinating for centuries but no once have I tried to change it, there are ways we follow and we stick to them"

There was a silence that followed them for about an hour that was broken by Rokai
"How do you normally kill a person?"
Ryuk was startled by this and thought for a moment
"We've all been giving scythes for killing so a clean decapitation is normally how I and them. Some of the others have interesting methods like one of the others uses the scythe to"
"That's enough!" Rokai said cutting him off abruptly
"What?"
"I don't need to know the details of others, simply yours"
"What's that supposed to mean?
"No matter how much you say you don't care about them you still use the most painless method of all" Rokai said looking off to the distance "But the others will not change, so I want to find something that makes them change without choice"
