The pearl has always been a peaceful town, without scandals and outbursts of any kind.

The town was given it peculiar name on the basis of an old legend, it was a legend of lovers who supposedly fell in love and were blessed by the gods with a pearl when they found each other's heart.

The enormity of finding pearl seems to be of no importance, but it is said that they found the pearl under a old willow tree where they first met. Which was impossible since there was no civilisation and ocean as far as one could see.

The couple married and settled far away from the settlement and near the willow where they first met and professed their love.

The couple passed away, no one saw another pearl and their silent love story was lost

Spring changed Into summer, summer succeeded by autumn,
And autumn lead to winter.

Time continued to change and years continued to progress.

More people settled near the willow and a town called a pearl came into being.

Changing time changed the story and turned it into a legend that was told as a bed time story to entertain younglings.

The faith and hope of finding true love was termed silly and the true meaning of the word love was lost.

The End

"Nana, do people still believe in love"
A girl of five summers asked the governess. "Of course they do sweet heart. Don't you love your mother?"
Nana Margret asked "yes I do love her. " The girl answered, "And does your mother love you?" She questioned.

"She does! she bought me a pretty dress and said she loved me."
Nana smiled and kissed the girls forehead "That's love right there. She loves you and you love her and there's nothing thats stronger than love"

The young girl stared at her wide eyed and asked "Were the lovers a girl and a boy?"

Nana was shocked to be asked such a question from a girl of five summers.
But she answered as carefully as she could "Yes, the lovers were a girl and a boy. But love comes in many forms,
It can be between a parent and a child or between siblings."

"Will I have lover to give me a pearl one day." Nana was again taken aback by a question that was unheard of from a child so young,

"You will find someone to love you, how could you not? You are so smart and caring, only a fool can reject a beautiful, wise soul such as yours." She tucked me in and snuffed out the candle.

"Goodnight my darling Amelia, I know you will find your pearl."

She left the room and the girl deep in thought as she remembered a boy she met under the willow today

Flashback

"What's your name?" Amelia asked
"I can't tell you, mother says we should not tell your name to a stranger" the boy had answered.

"I can be your friend. we can play and then you can tell me your name"

The boy gave a toothy grin and ran shouting " catch me and I will tell you"

Amelia the competitive girl she was ran after the boy she just met into a dress shop, leaving her mother behind.

They ran till both of them were tired and panting. They stopped under an old willow tree and sat down.

Amelia and the mysterious boy were laughing, they shook their hands and called truce. They both were happy as the talked and played around the tree.

Dusk approached soon and it was time for the children to depart from each other's company.

In a small amount of time they played it was evident that the were quite attached to each other.

They said a teary goodbye, Amelia was walking back to the market place when she heard someone calling her and turned around to come face to face with her unknown companion

"I have something for you I found it at the base of the huge tree" the boy opens his hands to show a pearl "Its pretty like you, so you can keep it" Amelia was happy to receive such an unexpected gift and thanked him.

"When will we meet again?" Amelia asked. "When the time comes" the boy answered and ran away.

End of flashback

Amelia got out of her bed in the moonlight she went to her dresser and opened drawer to retrieve a pearl.

"Till we meet again" she whispered without knowing the enormity of her words.
