Zane hums in a pleasant state. A very rare occasion I might add. He's ahead in his studies, so he's decided to now occupy himself with the pony show on TV. He smiles at the small jokes, also a rare occasion, before hearing a crash come from the room next to him. He growls frustratedly when hearing another small noise, this time sounding like shattering glass. Was someone breaking in? He cautiously got up from the couch and walked over to the kitchen. There weren't any windows, so what in the world was-
"Kawaii~Chan?!" Zane's not quite sure, but as he looks on the island. On it is a pink spotted small cat. He sighs in annoyance. "You dropped a potion. Didn't you?" He says, his voice sounds harsh with disappointment. He shakes his head slowly picking her up and setting her on the other side of the Island, as for her not to cut her paws from the shattered glass on the other side. But before he had even realised it, Kawaii~Chan's tail had curled, dragging another potion with her. It shattered at Zanes feet and he gasped in surprised. He would never get used to the quick sensation. Besides the physical differences, the biggest one of all was his vision. Being lower allowed him to see more of what he couldn't previously and the darkness below the couch seemed to have as much lighting as the rest of the room. "Ugh," Plopping down on his behind, he finally realised the small pink cat was no where to be seen. "Kawaii~Chan?" he called out, rather lazily, not really caring. He shrugged feeling the behavior of a cat adding to his own. He didn't care. Swinging his tail, he made his way over back to the show. He nearly screamed at Kawaii~Chans sudden presence on the couch.
Her golden eyes are staring in excitement at the screen. "Come here Zane-Kun!" she squealed in excitement, patting the space beside her.
Zane shook his head, about to say no. After all, Aphamu and Katelyn really didn't appreciate cat or dog hair on the couch. But after feeling a cat behavioral like instinct yet again, he took a few steps, jumping onto it with skilled agility with a notion of not caring what Aph would say later. "Heh, why not."
They sat quite peacefully for awhile, until Zane had a sudden thought in his head. Kawaii~Chan was a meifwa meaning she was part cat so... What was up with the giddy attitude? He decided not to question it, realising he wouldn't want her any other way. Besides, coming up with smart remarks was his job.
Kawaii~Chan jumped off the couch. For some reason, she seemed more giddy and devious. Zane couldn't help but be a little nervous. "Be right back Zane-Kun!" She sprinted upstairs.
I hate it when she calls me that.
No you don't.
He let out a frustrated purr until his ears turned around distinctively at a small gentle bumping noise behind him. Turning around, he jumped on the head of the couch seeing Kawaii~Chan running down the stairs, a bright red ball of yarn in front of her. All of Zane's concentration narrow on it, and before he knew it, he had jumped off the couch, sliding on a rug before running besides Kawaii~Chan and chasing it as well.
Kawaii~Chan giggles as she slows, watching Zane tumble over it, his claws digging deep into the string as he flailed it this way and that.
Zane quickly caught notice however that Kawaii~Chan was watching him. "What?" he asks, a piece of string stuck between his canines as he said so. His mind suddenly brought him back to reality as he frowns, pushing the ball of yarn away. "Okay, you had your fun." He grumbles, jumping back onto the couch, frustratedly blowing the bangs out of his one cat eye.
Kawaii~Chan lays on her back, belly exposed as she lets out a fit of laughs.
"Hmm..." A noise tickles his throat. He's purring. "Whatever."
"Come on Zane~Kun!" Kawaii~Chan calls from below. "Being a cat is fun!" She continues rolling around, taking the yarn in her paws, her claws stretched as far as they would go.
"It's stupid and undignifying." Zane says nonchalantly
Kawaii~Chan mutters something.
"What?" Zane calls out in annoyance. He hated when others had to repeat themselves.
"Kawaii~Chan takes great offense at that." She says, louder this time. "Being part cat is the most wonderful feeling in the world!" She states, jumping onto the couch and making her way next to him. "Besides," She turns, her back to him and her tail giving him quite the smack on the face. Zane couldn't tell if it was on purpose or not, but his cheek stung and she didn't apologize. "I know being someone else would be more stupid and undignifying."
How dare she! Zane claws kneeded into the couch. She was talking about him. His eyes stared straight ahead as he made his way over to her. "What about me is--" He's unable to complete his sentence, feeling his pride go down the drain.
"You don't understand." She finally says. That was her accusation. "You don't even try to," She sounds sort of sad, Zane walks in front of her, taking her paws out of her face. "Kawaii~Chan doesn't know why she liked you."
Wait, what? "You liked me?" he asks in disbelief. She liked pizza dude, even Dante for awhile, but him? He wasn't even her type. "Why?" He couldn't help but ask.
Kawaii~Chan turns around, walking toward the kitchen before halting.
Zane watched her nervously, feeling as if he was being pranked.
"You had never insulted me before, or really meant it." She lets out a small laugh. "At love-love Paradise, all those times you called me a "girl-woman," the cat part of me could tell that... you never meant it."
Zane's eyes go wide.
She turns back around walking circles on the floor. "But whenever you insulted Katelyn, you meant it. And if you ever said something mean to your brother, you meant it." She puts the pieces together. They fit perfectly.
Zane feels his heart stop.
"But not me."
Kawaii~Chan feels a tingly sensation in her chest. It's not her heart, but the effect of the potion was wearing off and she soon turned back into herself. Zane was now able to read her face more clearly. She was confuzed, yet hopeful.
Zane felt the sensation a couple seconds afterward as he turned back. They stared at eachother for a moment, Kawaii~Chan gritting her teeth.
"I'm sorry." Zane finally says, "I mean it."
"Kawaii~Chan's sorry too."
Zane pats the place beside him. Kawaii~Chan accepts, smiling nervously. He picks up the yarn, setting it on the coffee table in front of them. Kawaii~Chan talkes it however, giddly tossing it between her hands. Zane smirks leaning to the other side of the couch, letting out a comfortable sigh. He shifts however when he feels Kawaii~Chan nuzzle into his arm. "What are you doing?" He asks.
Kawaii~Chan doesn't respond, instead letting purrs echo in her throat. Kawaii~Chan is comfortable. And she doesn't care what anyone else thinks.
