~Sherlock's POV~

John and I had been working on a case that Lestrade had assigned us. It led to America as it would turn out. We had gotten a rental car and it was very odd to drive on the other side of the car but I managed. We had to go to the state of Maine and at the moment we were driving to our location.
It was late at night so right now we were trying to find a town that we could stay at. The gps we had showed no town in sight but there was a sign for a town on the road. I was confused at first but also relieved. The car then started to stutter and make weird noises. It then died on the side of the road. I slammed my hands against the steering wheel and got out of the car.

"I hate America!" I shouted swinging my fists in the air.

"Sherlock calm down. We're lucky to be in a town. Now let's just walk until we find a hotel to stay at." John said.

I looked at him and nodded. We left the car where it was stopped and walked. It wasn't too far to the rest of the town and it was quite small. We eventually saw a sign pointing to where we could stay. 'Granny's Bed and Breakfast.' A confused expression crossed my face but I shrugged. John and I walked inside and there was an old lady behind the counter. She looked at us with wide eyes but she looked at us suspiciously.

"Can I help you gentlemen?" She asked.

"Uh, yeah. Our car broke down and we need a room." John told her.

"Alright." She said and grabbed a key.

"How much?" John asked.

"How long are you staying?" She asked.

"Just until we get the car working." He answered.

"I'll get your fee when you leave." She said.

John nodded and looked at the number on the key then found the room with that number. I heard some voices from downstairs and one of them was the old woman's. I then heard footsteps and a woman came up. She looked up and her y/c eyes met mine. I could see fear in her eyes but also curiosity.

"So I'm guessing it was your car that is broken down near the edge of town?" She asked breaking the silence.

"Uh, yes. Well, we're renting." I answered.

"Because you're from London." She said.

"Yes." I said and then looked her up and down.

I couldn't seem to deduce a single thing about her and it aggravated me. All the things I thought I deduced all seemed to have a question mark at the end of them. I put my hands on either side of my head and let out a scream of frustration. I then looked back up at the girl who was looking at me strangely.

"My name is Sherlock Holmes." I said smiling.

"Y/n. Nice to meet you...I guess." She said unsure. "How long are you gonna be in town?" She asked.

"Until we get our car repaired." I told her.

"I'll show you to the mechanic tomorrow. Goodnight Mr. Holmes." She said and then went into her room.

"Goodnight." I said and then turned around.

I walked into the room and shut the door behind me. I had been hoping that we wouldn't be here long but y/n had intrigued me and I wanted to learn more about her.
