It was unfortunate for Stella that whenever she met Kelvin Cane he managed to misinterpret her actions and present them in a bad light. Was it just because he was bitter about the woman who had hurt him in the past, or was there some deeper reason? At times it seemed as if the island of Madeira wasn't big enough to hold both of them!
