It felt like I was dying extra slow in the thickest quicksand trying to get through the week until Friday.
Friday morning Christian woke me up and brought me my Mtn Dew and chocolate. Which I still didn't know why he was staying with me. I put on my favorite outfit. A hot pink tank top that fit my body just right with an adorable black cardigan. Pairing with my favorite dark blue skinny jeans. I also had my hot pink converse on. To pull it all together I put the bow my mother gave me for my 14th birthday. The day she died.
It had been 3 years after she died. But I still remember it like it was yesterday. I ran my fingers over the edges remembering the times we shared. The laughs we had, the movies we saw, the malls we shopped at, everything flushed over me like a wave and I would have started breaking down if Christian didn't walk into my room.
I quickly wiped away my tears. "Hey." I look up into his deep brown eyes.
"Wow. Someone's all dolled up." He laughs.
I roll my eyes and go to put my make up on.
When I get to school, Christian and I say our goodbyes and go our separate ways. As I'm walking to my little corner where I go to "read" every morning (but I actually secretly watch Matthew and his friends play basketball before the first bell rings) I noticed something different. Today he was looking extra handsome. His fluffy brown bangs going to the right of his face and his red plaid shirt fitting his muscles just perfectly. Usually, I would catch myself before he would notice I was staring but I just couldn't resist. He finally spotted me. I was slouching at the time but when his blue eyes met mine, I sat up straight realizing I had been caught.
He waved at me to come play. I placed my book in my backpack and I jogged over to play. At my school I was known for being the girl athlete.
"Damn Ashlee. I've never seen you so, girly before." Josh says as he looks up and down my body hungrily.
"Yeah, Ashlee. Why so dressed up?" Another friend of Matthew's, Garrett asks.
I blush and look to the ground.
"Ooh. Ashlee's going full girl on us." Josh nudges me.
I look up at him and he winks. Then I make my eyes over to Matthew. He's talking to Mallory and her best friend. I decide to embarrass Mallory while I have the upper hand.
"Hey Mallory, want to play some basketball with us?" I point toward the boys as I approach her.
She glares me up and down with a nasty look. "Uh, I don't do sports." She cockily says.
"Oh c'mon Mallory! Play with us!" Josh shouts from behind me.
She looks at Matthew who just shrugs and finally agrees to play.
After the match, I ranked up the points and Mallory complained 86 times. "Good game Ashlee. You did really good. Like always." Matthew said going for a fist bump.
I fist bump him and say thanks.

After the finale bell rang I sprinted to my car. I couldn't wait until later tonight. It's going to the most perfect "date" ever.
