My name is Amaya, I am 13 years old and I am so excited to finally have a new diary to write in. I usually do a little profile about myself in each one so here it goes:

Name: Amaya Rose-gold

Age: 13

Parents: Beatrice and Rupert Rose-gold

Siblings: Sebastian (Brother-17)

Friends: Lucy

School: Green Oak High School

Future Job: Lawyer (At least that's what my parents want)

Hobbies: Singing, Dancing and acting. Favourite singing is a Capella!

So that's all there really is to know about me. My parents always wanted the whole family to be lawyers, all because my Nanny and Grandad were, my great nanny and granddad and my great great you get the idea. It runs through the family. So of course my parents are lawyers and that's why I am sitting here in one of our many lounges writing in here. My mum has already started looking at some law schools for me, my brother Leo is already at University studying and my parents make it so obvious which child they think is going to make the better lawyer.

I guess your wondering why my hobbies are all triple threat activities? Well, all I have ever wanted to do my whole life is sing, dance and act. Whenever a catchy song comes on the radio at breakfast, I am the only one who leaps out of there chair and starts to move and dance. Dance makes me feel free and I feel like I can actually run away from all the problems that my parents are making me have with my future. If I know the song I would start singing to the music.  When the tv comes on and there are any actors I aspire to be like I would study them extremely carefully and try to pick up any excellent tips.

I'm kidding. I could never do that in front of my parents. My mum would make me come and have a 'chat' with her. That just basically means a lecture on how my future is going to be terrible if 'I continue the way I am.' My father is not as bad as my mum, but he still encourages me to be a lawyer. And well Seb is just annoying and so stuck up. He is already at the best law school in Britain and apparently he is really taking after my parents. Aghhhh he is such the teachers pet!

Today was like any normal school day. I got up rather later than I should have, had breakfast with my mum 'talking' to me. Rather lecturing to me. Got dressed into my green and brown uniform- the school is called 'Green Oak'- with my mum still 'talking' to me through the wall. After grabbing my bag, I walked outside my front drive to see my best friend Lucy waiting for me. We always walked to school together. Lucy really is my only friend, but she could be quite popular if she wasn't friends with me. Nobody really likes me, because when Seb was at this school, most of the siblings of people in my classes were in his classes and they all say that he was really an annoying teachers pet and classmate. So now thanks to Seb, I am labelled as Sebastian Rose-gold's annoying little sister that no one likes. He is also the stuck-up posh type that everyone hates.

My mum doesn't like Lucy, even though she has only been round my house once. It's because she has an ordinary name and her sur-name is Collins, so Lucy Collins may seem like a plain and ordinary name for a girl, but Lucy was certainly not plain! She is very unique, funny and a really loyal friend. She also wants to be a hockey player for England and she could quite easily do this, for she is amazing at the sport! That's probably another reason that my mum hates her, Lucy loves sport and my mum calls it a waste of time for frauds. I have no problem against sport and Lucy privately teaches me a bit at school!

Nobody really likes me, because they all think that I am stuck-up like Seb; and I am almost certain that I am the complete opposite. Anyway, once me and Lucy had arrived at school we both had maths together first. After coming out half-asleep, I saw someone put a poster up on the corridor wall, it said:

A capella singing contest talent show here at Green Oak!

Speak to Mrs Smith for more in Music 2 today lunchtime.

"Wow! Lucy look!" I exclaimed maybe a little too loud (Some people turned to look at me with dirty glares.) As soon as Lucy saw the poster she took my arm and insisted that I go. Honestly I wasn't too sure and not confident enough I was good enough to be in a talent show and perform in front of the whole school.

As soon as the lunch bell went, me and Lucy rushed from History to the Music block. As soon as we arrived we just gasped at how many people were waiting in the music corridor. And the sound was like an extremely busy hotel pool. Just then Mrs Smith came out and beckoned us all in. There was so many of us that some had to sit on the floor -like me and Lucy- and some had to share a chair. "I am so pleased to see so many of you! I am going to send a few pieces of paper around for you all to write your name. There are approximately 50 of you and we need just 10 to make a successful group." Several people gasped. Just 10? I looked a Lucy with a disappointing look on my face, clearly seeing that she knew I was gonna back out, she simply shook her head and whispered that we are definitely not going back now. "Because of this", Mrs Smith continued, "I will be holding auditions tomorrow lunchtime for anyone still interested. And remember, your chance is as good as anyone else's."

That night I could hardly sleep because of all the excitement rushing through me. The next morning on my way to school, Lucy kept questioning if I was still going to do it, but I had not changed my mind one bit. As soon as the lunch bell went, me and Lucy rushed to the hall where the auditions were going to be held. As soon as we arrived Mrs Smith was there. "Lovely to see some really eager girls ready to audition!" Me and Lucy blushed. After we went to sit backstage with some other students that were early, I saw some other students go an take a seat in the audience. Suddenly the butterflies started rushing through me.

I turned to Lucy and she immediately saw the panic and the butterflies in me. She gave me a very inspirational, quick and calming speech. Just as she finished, Mrs Smith took the stage. "I am delighted to say that we have many auditions for you to see today! The students backstage have picked a song, and are either going to perform to you a dance routine a song or maybe even some talented a cappella! First of all we have Beca Hastings!" After 'Beca' had finished her decent hip-hop routine, the auditions ran smoothly for almost everyone, -there were a few people freezing up on stage. I knew this wouldn't happen to me and was actually excited! The time finally came when I heard Mrs Smiths voice on stage say "Next we have Amaya Rose-Gold and Lucy Collins!" I felt excited and nervous!

As me and Lucy stepped onto stage I could hear confused whispers around in the audience. I managed to pick up a conversation from two audience member. "Amaya? Amaya? Shouldn't she be studying or acting stuck-up?!" This type of thing made me even more determined to give it everything and be amazing!

As Lucy and I stepped on stage I waited for the music to begin. I was clutching my microphone nervously, my palms were so sweaty and I thought that I might drop the microphone! I could hear a murmur of laughter but just blocked it out. Then I heard the first music note...
