I met Eric in sixth grade, but I was pretty sure he didn't even think of me as a friend. He was extremely nice to me on my first day, even if it cost him. I had Band second period, which was on the opposite end of the school from his second period class. We had first period together, and after class, he saw me looking really lost, and he walked over to me. He showed me where the band hall was, and as he turned and left, I heard the dinging of the warning bell. I knew then that he wasn't just a normal sixth grade boy. He was late to his second period class FOR ME.
Later that day, in fifth period, he walked up to me and asked how my day had been. I told him the truth, "Well, it was really nice of you to show me to my class, even if you were to be late. I really appreciate it. However, the rest of my day has been quite terrible..." I didn't get to finish my sentence, for the bell had just rang and the teacher was yelling at the class to sit down. I sat the entire class, thinking about how nice he was compared to the others that I had asked for help. He was something different. He was something special.
