Chapter 5 ~ I FLY

Ethan's POV

Uggh! Today of all days! My allergies just decided to act up! I was low-key irritated but going to Ifly with Ari made up for it.
The moment Ari and I got to Ifly, she started to back out.
"I don't know if I can do this anymore..."Ari said worried.
"Nope. No way, we came all the way out here. Your friend bought us tickets and we cannot put them in the trash, got a put them to good use. You said you would love to do this!"*sniffle*
"OK yeah but that was before I saw how big this thing is"
"It's not that big." I lied this thing is huge. Has to be at least 50 feet.
"I'm gonna pee my pants."
"Haha no you won't! Come on"
I start to drag Ari inside, but she fights it...
"Do I need to take extreme measures to get you in there?"*sniffle*
"Define extreme...."
"Let's just say someone is going to get half of their half of the room taken away from them..."
"You wouldn't dare..."
"Oh I would, trust me."*sniffle*
"Finnneeeee, but you have to stay with me the whole time!
I laugh, "Where else would I go?"
"I don't know maybe you'd find a new best friend and ditch me for life, and I'd be stuck here in New Jersey all of myself."
"What? Of corse not!... Gianna would still be here with you."
She rolls her eyes and hits me, "Ugh! How do I even manage to put up with you sometimes?" She starts heading in and I follow her.
"I ask my self the same question."*sniffle*
We both head inside and immediately, I'm hit with a wave a goose bumps. I didn't think I would be nervous for this kind of thing. But whatever, I needed to over come this and show Ari that it won't be that bad.
We both fill out our information, sign papers, blah blah etc.
I start heading up stairs and turn to look behind me. Ari is standing a the bottom staring into space.
"You gonna be okay?"
"...yeah...Ill be fine..."
I walk back down and reach out my hand. Ari takes it, and we both walk up stairs together. Step after step I see Ari get more nervous. We finally reach the top and see the huge air tube. Ari closes her eyes and takes a deep breath before following me to the seating area where you wait for your group to go.
We sit there in total silence watching other people just fall and float. Ari hand starts to get sweaty, so I let go and rub my hand against my pants.
"Ugh. Why didn't you tell me my hand was sweaty? I would've let go a long time ago."
"Haha, it's fine. I felt bad. I kinda feel like I'm making you do this against your will."
"Well you kinda are.."
"Not really. I mean you were the one who came up with this idea."
"Noo Gianna had this idea and wasn't able to come."
"Welp, it sucks to suck."
"Yeah no shit."
Soon enough, it was our turn. Ari an I walk over with our group and watch an informal video about safety precautions and all that jazz. After it was over, we started to put on our flight suits. I get red suit while Ari gets the blue. She grabs the goggles and ears plugs and we suit up.
We take some snazzy pictures of us while we're waiting for the group before us to come out. Next thing you know, this guy with the biggest of all bubble butts calls out, "Next group!"
I nudge Ari, "You nervous?"
"Gotta face your fears whether you like it or not right?"
"Wow. When did your attitude change? Ever since we got here you were 'scared' "
"Welp, while I was sitting here with you judging my sweaty hand, I decided I needed to prove you wrong. I'm not going to be scared anymore."
"Oh so you're just not gonna be scared anymore... is that it?"
"Yup"
"Alright...we'll see about that"
We continue to follow our group and we put in our ear pieces and place our goggles over our eyes. The moment they opened the door, we felt this huge breeze flow over us. You could just feel the wind blowing miles and miles a minute.
Ari gives me a nervous look before taking a deep breath and walking inside like the most confident person I've ever seen.
*sarcastically* "okay" I start laughing. If she would've seen the look on her face when we got here she would be laughing just as hard as I am. Let's just see how tough she thinks she is when she goes first.
Everyone else continues to pile in and finally the man closes and locks the door behind us. The people in front of us go one by one and I could see the look of nervousness on Aris face.
Finally it's her turn, and she walks up to the woman. Slowly but surely, she crosses her arms over her chest, and closes her eyes. The lady counts down from three and once she reaches one, Ari begins to fall face forward into the fan.
Then BOOM! Ari starts to friken float! The moment she went down she flew her arms up, and STARTED FLYING!
The lady holds onto her and spins her around. She starts laughing, and I lock eyes with her when the lady stops spinning her. She looks at me with the biggest smile I've ever seen and I mouth to her, "It's soooo scary right?"
She squints her eyes and pouts her mouth giving me a smirky death glare. The lady finally takes her out after her minute of fun and comes back to me.
The lady floats up to the opening near me, "You ready?!"
I shake my head with a smile on my face. I get up and walk up to the edge of the fan. I take a deep breath before I cross my arms and let gravity take me down to the floor. I felt as if I was going to face plant into the ground so I shot my arms up to break my fall,but just flew back up. "NOO WAYY! WHOOOOOO!" This has got to be the coolest thing I have ever done. The lady instructs me to keep my arms up . She grabs a hold of me and starts to spin me around like I'm on a merry-go-round. Little did I know I probably should have blew my nose before coming into the tube. When she spun me around, my snot couldn't keep up in my nostrils and it just flew out. I don't know where it went but my boogers flew right out of my nose.
After about a minute she sent me back down onto the edge of the fan to sit back with the rest of the group. I plopped  down next to Ari and she starts laughing and pointing out my face. Like what the heck? What's so funny?
"What? Why are you laughing?"
"You-you-you have..."she can't finish her sentence because she's out of breath wheezing all over the place laughing.  Like I don't understand why she pointing at my...oh no.
I touch my face and feel slimy sticky substance on my cheek. Great! The snot flew all over my face! This is so disgusting!
"EWWWW!!"
I start to wipe the snot off my face and onto my flight suit.
"Eww don't do that Ethan!" Ari still says giggling.
Great now they're probably going to have me pay for it. This day just keeps getting better and better.
"You want me to wipe it on you instead?"
She stops laughing in your eyes pop out of her head. "Ethan...NO"
"Then I suggest you stop laughing at me and judging me."
She puts her hands up and surrender, "Okay okay...it was pretty funny though" I clean up the rest of my face, and Ari and I chit chat waiting for our next turn.
We go in the tube again for about 3 to 5 minutes before everyone is done and we had back outside the tube. I take off my goggles and yank out my earplugs. I looked in the mirror and still saw left over snot caught in my hair and eyebrows. Ew... I quickly get a tish and get this nasty junk off my face.
Next this I know, I hear that oh so lovely voice, "Hey Asswipe. Can we hurry it up a bit over there? I'm trying to get to places here!"
I chuckle and shake my head. I strip out of my flight suit and head over to Ari.
"What? You can't give me a few minutes to get my life together drama queen?"
"Oh sorry, I should've known how big of a mess your life is. Do you need a few more minutes?"
What a little jerk.
"Half of your half is gone." That's all I say before I walk away and here are chasing after me yelling, "Noo! Ethan come back here! I'm sorry!"
I stop mid walk and turn around, "Oh really?"
"Yupppp......"
"That didn't seem very realistic..."
"UGHHHGH..ok, look...ugh, okay...Ethan...I'm sorry. Okay?"
"Apology accepted."
"Good, let's go home! I'm tired!"
"Me too. Come on, I'll call us an uber."
Ari and I head outside and wait for Uber to pick us up. I sit on the curb, and Ari lays her head down on my lap looking up at me.
Out of no where, she goes, "You're just a little shit you know that?"
"What?" I laugh, " You're a little shit."
"You're not a big shit, just a little one. Like the ones hamsters poop out. You know the little tiny balls?"
"Okay? Why are you talking about this?"
"You just are okay?"
"Thanks...I guess."
"You're welcome"she smiles and closes her eyes.
What the actual heck? That came out of nowhere... Sometimes I question why am best friends with her.
The car rolls up from parks in front of us. I nudge Ari awake, and we both climb into the car.
We start to drive home and Ari falls asleep again. Her head goes side to side until it finally slumps all the way down back into my lap. We sit like this for the whole car ride.
I try to wake her up when we get home, but she won't budge, so I end up carrying her into our dorm. I set her down on her new bed and tuck her in. I put on my PJs and get in my own bed. I lay there in my bed and just can't go to sleep. My mind is racing about life... I don't know why, but my mom seemed so skeptical about me coming here... And I want to know why.
