**Chapter two- Last words**
"What was that." Ivy said as her paws pricked at the grass with interest.
"Listen, I know we just met but Pineclan, the clan we are in, is very low on warriors and we need as many cats we can get. We have rival clans that fight with us, and when bare-leaf comes, we will most likely run out of prey and herbs if we don't get some help." Iceclaw finished with a concerned gaze at ivy. Ivy could think of a million things she wanted to say. Are there any other house cats, you could just find homes with house folk, what's bare-Leaf, but most of all, one thought lingered in her head.
"Why me?"
Ivy stiffened. Why would two wild cats just jump out from nowhere and ask her to join them? Are they starving? Are they just going to ambush her? She had just met these cats and now...
"Listen, your a good hunter and our clan needs more members. I know this is crazy but no kits are due until late leaf-fall. We are very low on warriors at the moment and could really use your help." Iceclaw said.
"Do you always ask hous- uh kitty pets to join you out of the blue? And how do you know I'm fit for your clan?" Ivy responded, reluctantly. Brookheart stepped in.
"Listen, we don't have much time here. What do you think when your hunting? The thrill of the chase and the blood pumping through your ears. Out here, we aren't trapped in a two-leg den. We live every day under the sky and in the forest. Wouldn't you like that?" Brookheart somewhat sneered. She did have a point though, one of the things Ivy loved most was hunting. Though she didnt hunt that often, the excitement just clicked to her.
Ivy shifted her paws on the forest floor. She was actually considering there offer. "I.." Ivy began but she couldn't think. She didnt know what she would get into if she followed them. Her life with her house folk WAS indeed boring. The same old cycle. Sleep, eat, go outside, eat, sleep. "Give me some time to think about this..." She finally said. Iceclaws head perked up though Brookheart gave away no expression. " We will come here at sunset, tomorrow. One cat will be waiting by this rock." She flicked her tail to the direction of a large rock which looked like it was leaning into a marshy pond. " If you decide to join us, you will be escorted to our camp. Until then this may be the last time we meet." She bowed her head and glanced over to Iceclaw, the two seemed to have a connection.
"I trust you will find you way out of the forest...u-unless you'd like us to escort you, that is." He mumbled, breaking off Brookhearts formal tone.
With that, Ivy found herself padding through the forest, forgetting about the morsel she caught. The orange glow of the sky reflected against her pelt as she broke away from the woods. Bently had told her to always look for the red star if Ivy ever got lost. And sure enough, there it was, Ivy could see it poking the sky from where she was standing. The red star was attached to a tall stick that ended not to far from her house folks den. Following the red flashing star, Ivy soon met the rock wall that kept the Wild cats and her separated. The orange sky turned to a peach color as Ivy passed through the gates. She would love to curl up and close her eyes but she knew sleep wouldn't come easily.
The whole night Ivy sat on her thin red pelt and thought about what Brookheart had said. Not before long, Ivy's head was hurting trying to Decide on what to do. She needed a drink of water, she thought to herself as she padded to the shiny object. Ivy poked her head inside and, to no surprise, it was dry. Ivy's house folk took care of her, though they didn't pay much attention to her. Sometimes, Ivy wished she had some house folk to care for her like Bently's female did, despite her crooked voice. That's right, Ivy forgot to tell Bently of what had happened. I'll find him tomorrow, she thought as she closed her eyes and let sleep envelope her.
