"This plan is going to get us killed," I smirked, "Of course I'm in!"

Nathan laughed at my willing response, "Pretty sure the only dangerous part of getting drunk, is the possibility of our parents finding out." He said with half a smile, to which I grinned back at.

A shadow tinged at the edge of my vision. This wasn't the first time and I was starting to wonder if I needed to see an optometrist. Except, every time I turned towards it, it disappeared. I rubbed my eyes and turned back to my lab partner.

"How much longer?" I groaned slinking down onto the desk, my blonde hair creating a cushion on the plastic bench. Nathan smiled and peered up from me to the clock,

"About five minutes, eager to ditch are we?" He replied, as I grinned back affirming his suspicions. His guess was confirmed soon after when the bell rang, signalling the end of the day. Didn't need to tell me twice, I stammered a quick goodbye to Nathan and was already out the door before the teacher could inflict homework. I fought my way against the crowds of hollering jocks and spirited cheerleaders,  eventually making my way outside, without looking back I started walking in the directly of home. The sun was already setting and as it disappeared, so did the little warmth lingering in the winter air. The cold air bit at my fingers and cheeks, finding its way into my lungs. At least its not snowing,  thinking myself fortunate that it rarely snowed in New Orleans. However this did mean I'd never actually seen real snow. ever. I huffed and hugged by jumper. The darkness in my vision appeared again, but this time, as I turned towards it, it didn't disappear. A blurry figure stood idle in the darkness on the other side of the road.

I froze. I could hear my own heartbeat as the blood rushed to my head. Without a moment more, I swung and ran towards home. Down the path I sprinted, trailing footsteps spurring me on.

 Fuck.

Focused on getting to safety, I suppressed the burning fear consuming my body. So focused in fact, that I totally missed the hole in the ground.

That I had unsurprisingly tripped in.

Landing right on my ass.

Fuck.

Before I had the chance to get up, the footstep figures held me down, casting shadows all around and attempting to pull me off the ground, they shouted, but I heard none of it. Fear blurred my vision and I screamed at the top of my lungs.

A strong burning sensation grew from my palms, unimaginable pain shot through my entire body. Pinpricks of light startled my darkened vision, and I was suddenly overcome by exhaustion.

My vision momentarily focused on a dark-haired man hovering over me. Never thought I'd die by mugging, let alone by an attractive mugger.

"I've got you..." He spoke softly

A moment of confusion

Before the chaos triumphed
