Bitch we almost died!" Rell exclaimed as he exited the black Lincoln mkz shakily placing his feet upon the blacktop of the mall parking lot. Anthony lay in his arms sound asleep as he had been the entire duration of their death ride to the mall throughout which River and Jay laughed while Rell clutched at the seat belts desperately as all the traffic lights on their route to their destination turned green courtesy of a certain spade cheeked teen the car never losing its speed and only going faster and faster until it was only a blur on the road.
"We were fine, I'm an excellent driver." Jay's said proudly as he opened his door turning the key and shutting off the ignition before exiting his car.
"I almost feel bad for that old lady." River lamented as he too exited the passenger seat of the car walking around the front to the side where his brother, nephew and mate where.
"Bitch, no you don't shut the fuck up." Rell rolled his eyes, "Y'all almost ran her over."
"Well she shouldn't have been walking across the street the light was green." Jay laughed leaning against the side of her car, "Rell you want me to get the stroller for Ant? Jay asked turning to the small boy who nodded in response, "Yes suh I'm not carrying his heavy ass around all day."
Jay laughed at that as he headed to the back of the vehicle popping its trunk and reaching inside for the contraption.
"So what are we gonna do in the mall again?" Rell turned to face his twin the sun shined down on them though neither of them felt its heat it was a nice breezy day that Rell knew would be perfect for Anthony. Their clothes danced on the small gust the swept through the parking lot.
"Bitch, I don't know. I just feel like kicking' back." Rell shrugged hefting Anthony up so his chin lay on his shoulder.
"Awwwww, with your favorite twin." River's touched tone made Rell scowl, "I'm your only twin hoe."
The sound of a stroller hitting the ground made them turn around Rell cracked a smile at Jay, "And besides Jay's here too we can't forget about him."
"I like to think I'm pretty unforgettable." Jay chuckled wryly as he rolled the object over to the twins, "Especially when I'm a fire breathing mass of scales, teeth, and claws." He stopped in front of them, or ya know when I'm having sex." His gaze specifically pointed toward a wide eyed River as the pupils of his brown eyes slitted into thin needles the corneas turning from a dark brown to a glowing purple.
"I can't take y'all anywhere without you being nasty...must be nice." Rell smiled as placed his slowly waking infant into the stroller chair, "You act like you and Shad didn't do the same shit." River scoffed behind his brother, "I'm sorry who's Shad?" Rell said vapidly while he buckled his baby in the seat making sure his cap was on tight and the pacifier was sitting comfortably in his mouth he flipped the visor down to make sure he was nice and shady.
River just rolled his eyes a small smile on his face walking over he took Jay's hand and began to walk towards the entrance of the mall his brother in tow weaving between the cars and arriving at the main entrance of Baskerville Mall.
"This oughta be an interesting day." Rell said as they made their way in to the structure there was already a surprising amount of people there considering how early it was mostly adults with some teen close to their age scattered about in their own little cliques laughing with bags or drinks in their hands at something their friend said.
As the trio walked through the pathways of the mall they were aware of the strange looks that they got, mostly from the older percentage of people that where there. They usually turned their heads quickly when Rell caught them giving them a glare that could melt lead, "Dumbass people always wanna look but don't wanna say shit when you catch them." Rell said loudly as he came out of a baby clothing store where a mother had continued to stare at him and Anthony for the duration of his time there before she was caught and violently cussed out by a furious Rell, "Leave the little mortal woman alone." Jay shook his head while his arm was rested on River's shoulders, "Tuh, fuck that she needs to stop looking at me. Plus I think she was some kind of fairy." He said in a afterthought after his little tantrum.
"Ooooh, what really!?" River asked excitedly from Jay's side.
"Yeah I got like pings off her ass." Rell shrugged dismissive as he continued to push a half awake Anthony,
"I thought fae never left their dimension." River said inquisitively, "A lot of them don't but some do to just fuck around." Jay looked down at his mate to explain, "Have u ever been to their world? The Fae Lands?" River asked is head tilted up at Jay.
"Yeah, theres a door to it at a park not too far from here." He said, "I found it once while I was out flying only opens at like twilight."
"Ooooh, bitch lets go in here!" Rell exclaimed turning into another store. The smell of fresh unworn clothes hitting them as soon as they walked in, "Ew it smells."
"It's the smell of human pollution baby, that and basic white girls." Jays reply made the boy grimace, "Humans are so weird." He said with a shake of his head following after his brother with Jay by his side.
"Girl, this shirt is cute." Rell called behind him to his brother as he examined the article of clothing held in front of him with Anthony parked next to him his eyes open and aware as he looked around at the new place he was in, taking in all that was around him.
"It is pretty groovy." River agreed looking at the t shirt it was a medium in size and had a sheer quality to it. The shirt resembled the ones worn by major league baseball players save for its sheer feel and see through black shoulder parts with roses adorning the fabric.
"But how much does it cost?" His brother asked a smirk on his face.
Rell glared at him annoyed at his brothers condescending tone before tentatively flicking the rag up his nervous frown instantly switching to a shit eating grin, "Twenty dollars bitch. Now don't you feel stupid?" His smug response didn't even phase River, "Good now go pay for the shit." He pointed him towards the checkout counter "We still have to go to another store and get stuff for my nephew." He added placing his hands on his hips.
"Shut the fuck up." Rell said placing his newly acquired shirt on the back of the stroller draping over Anthony's face the baby immediately grabbing for it with his pudgy hands.
"I'm sorry who's gonna make me?" River put a hand to cup his ear as if he couldn't hear well.
"Jay can answer that." Rell giggled as he rolled away to go pay for his shirt the sound of his nephews laughter soothed his annoyance.
"I hate him so much." River said aloud making Jay shake his head, "No you don't Star you love him." His chuckle made River smile, "Hate is a form of love Jaybird."
"Oh is it?" Jayvon pulled him close his arms wrapping around his waist Rivers reflexively around his neck his neck he was standing on his tip toes just so he could reach that high, "So how much do you hate me?" Jays tongue slithered out flicking against River's lips making him whimper, and move his head forward for more contact with that tongue, pouting when he was softly pushed back down so the flats of his feet were once again parallel to the ground, "Not yet baby." He placated the smaller pouting boy, "You can show me how much you hate me later."
"I hate you so much." River huffed pushing himself away from the man his arms crossed and vexed at not receiving a kiss.
"Aw, I love you too baby." He leaned down to kiss the boy's cheek quickly darting back to avoid a strike from Rivers clenched fist the action betraying the simper that was on his face.
"Shut up." His voice small a whisper full of the warmth he carried for the man he knew he loved.
"River?" He freezes. That voice he knows that voice how could he forget it? It was the voice his brother had fallen in love with.
"Is that you brother in law?" Rashad's voice came from behind them. Fuck and it was such a good day.
Jay looked behind his mate confused for a moment before saw the reason for his mate's odd behavior
a lean built man around his age was walking toward them his caramel skin glowed under the florescent lights in the store.
His hair long and black was dreaded and fell around his shoulders a grayish silver tipped the ends of it and surrounded the small oval that was his face sunglasses shielded his eyes from view. His clothes were simple an off-white t-shirt and a black jeans that led into a pair of Air forces, he was as tall as Jay and smelled off he knew he wasn't human but wasn't quite sure what he was, but he knew it had something to do with his eyes.
"Heyyyyy Shad." River turned sharply to greet the person that had broken his brother's heart.
"What's up fam?" He came in for a hug a smile on his face showing his perfect teeth but stopped as an arm encircled around River's waist pulling him closely to the man behind him.
Jay studied Shad curiously his head tilted and his plump lips pursed as he watched the thing in mortal form in front of him look at the arm he had around River and back up his hands up in front of him in a gesture of surrender, the smile on his face still present.
"Chill bruh bruh. I was just saying trying to say hey to my ex and his fam." Suddenly it hit Jay, so this was Shad. The father of Rell's baby. "Oh, I know you now." Jay extended his hand towards the man his other arm still wrapped protectively around his mate, "You're Rashad."
The other raised an eyebrow as he took the offered hand startling at the bone breaking grip Jay had, "They been talking shit about me?" He looked into Jays caramel eyes with his veiled ones as he returned the tight hold just as strong, "All the damn time." Jay chuckled he still hadn't let go.
"So you are a?
"Demon. So cold I could make hell freeze over." He finally lowered the sunglasses on his face showing his startling icy gray eyes, they radiated a seething frosty mystical energy. The temperature around him dropping just a bit as he showed off his power making a lady looking through clothes near them shiver and head to a different area.
"What about you?"
"Dragon." He said matter of factly.
"Damn I didn't know y'all could even go human, thought y'all stayed in rivers and shit. Dreaming and never showing yourself for anything." A frown on his face as the he realized the knowledge was incorrect.
"The older ones do." He explained, "I'm a newborn tho just hatched a couple years ago we're rare since most dragons forgot how to fuck and nut." The two in human's shared a laugh at this it made River cringe a little he didn't like how friendly they were getting. He didn't really dislike Rashad hell he hoped they got back together but if what he heard was right the boy had downgraded. He hoped Shad had come alone to the mall alone but luck never came through for him or his twin.
Throughout the whole thing he had looked at Rell. He had been in a line for the checkout counter for a long time and was just now finally reaching it paying for his shirt, he looked annoyed as the cashier girl hastily removed the sensor and took his money. The expanse between them seeming miles away he wanted to grab him and Jay and just leave. Go somewhere they could where they could spend this day without a worry in the world but the world had a way of saying stop being a pussy and telling you to face your problems.
Fuck you Gaea.
He felt a squeeze around his midsection and looked up Jay and Shad were still deep in conversation he didn't understand at first but then he did, this was a distraction. Slowly he turned his head back to Rell's position as not to alert Shad, seeing that he was done with the transaction and turning back to his brother and friend freezing when he saw Shad.
River caught his eyes jerking his head subtly to the side signifying for him to escape while Jay was distracting him. For a moment it looked like he would, he turned from his right to his left then he looked down at the Anthony for a minute or two before finally throwing his head back letting out a loud and angry sigh, "Fuck it!"
Startling a couple of shoppers and earning nervous looks from them.
"Moonlight." He looked over to Shad at the whisper and found his eyes completely on his brothers approaching form the conversation between Jay and him dropped.
"What's up?" Rell said when he arrived going to stand next to River and Jay, facing shad a
"Hey." Shad said simply his face blank his eyes still covered by his dark sunglasses further obscured his emotions from view.
"Please tell me we aren't gonna be awkward and just stare at each other." River sighed on Jays arms, "We're not Caucasian."
Jay chuckled at that as he watched the still keeping a tight hold on River he didn't want this thing to touch his mate he was friendly out of respect not out of any amity he had no hate towards the demon but until further notice, he didn't want to get too close in case this exchange led to a fight.
"How's Anthony?" He asked finally.
"He's right in front of you, stupid." Rell replied testily gesturing to the baby in the stroller.
"I meant how has he been since u got mad at me and told me not to come near you." Shad said calmly bending down and taking a knee so he could look at his baby, "Hey there little star." He held a hand out for Ant to grasp on too his son studied him his mouth open in curiosity before his small mouth curled into a open smile and he started jumping up while up and down in his seat.
"I never said u couldn't come see him." Rell scowled as he watched them together, "Why are u here shad?"
"My boyfriend." He said casually while still playing with his son.
"Oh shit." River said softly as he saw Rell freeze slightly his body clenching then slowly unclenching, "Oh really what's his name." Rell said suddenly animated the club marks on his cheeks flashed indigo blue and a row of lights on one side of the store went out. A couple of startled gasp were heard as a manager went over to check the power.
"Man, chill out." Shad said standing quickly and grabbing ahold of Rells shoulders only to yank his hands back with a surprised gasp as if he'd been electrocuted, he glared at Rell the glow of his eyes shining briefly through the darkness of his glasses an inhuman growl issued from his throat.
"Shadey!" A cry echoed across the store drawing their attention a boy maybe just a year or so older than the brothers Caucasian and shorter than any of the group he was rushing toward. His short brown hair was styled flipped to the side showing his broad forehead, his green eyes caught the light making them sparkle metallically, he wore dark blue jeans and a small light lavender t-shirt that faded into navy blue at the ends of the shirt.
"Hey baby." He barreled into a shocked Shad kissing him mushily before pulling back to place his feet on the floor, "All the clothes in here look like they're for poor bitches can we go?" He turned to the silent group and studied them for a moment before he turned back, "Who are those people?" He pointed in their direction while looking at the demon.
Rell and River looked at each other a moment Rell cracked a smile while River huffed a small laugh, "Oh shit bitch I can't."
"Um, what are you laughing at?" The boy scowled and placed his hands on his hips and it made him laugh harder jostling in Jays arms he turned himself so he could bury his face in the older man's broad chest muffling his chuckles.
"Hmmmm, interesting." Rell said still smiling, "You got yourself a little witch?"
"It's not like that and Chrissy," At the sound of the boy's name River laughed even louder into jays chest it seemed to be infectious as even Jay started to chuckle as he shook his head in Shads direction the message that he fucked up clear.
"I told you who he is this is Rell." He gestured to his ex with a hand.
"This is him." The way he said it sounded as if he were disgusted by the sight of him, "God you had low taste."
"I'm sorry bitch what." It looked as if Rell was about to say it but it was Rivers words that flowed through the air as he turned bodily to face the small boy, "Shad control your bitch fore I rock his shit."
"You won't touch me if you know what's good for you." Chrissy said venomously, "I'll turn you into another hashtag just like those other niggas."
"Oh bitch he said the word Jay let me go." River struggled in his arms to be set free but Jay held him tight not wanting any of this to happen his eyes were a vivid shade of purple though as he glared at a shocked and speechless Shad and a smug Chrissy, "Huh, a racist that's so human."
"Ok, bitch I would smack you but my baby is right here and I'm not really trying to fight today." He was already grabbing onto the stroller and wheeling it away from the couple with shaking hands his baby giggling in his seat, "Jay, twin come on let's get the fuck away from them it smells like Anthony shit and I need to change him." Jay turned a reluctant River away from to follow his brother letting more and more slack on his grip as they reached the door the stores occupants and employees watching them a radio in the managers hand, "Yeah, go take care of that fucking gorilla!" They all stopped when they heard the call Jay muttered a curse as he saw the brothers stiffen and look behind themselves at a furious and shocked Shad glaring at Chrissy though his glasses and a laughing, smiling Chrissy. He was already working his hands in the preparations for a spell, he wasn't that stupid he wanted this fight to show he was better than his lovers ex whore that baby must've shown Shadey that he didn't care about him that he was willing to fuck anyone he wondered who the mother was briefly before dismissing the thought she was probably some ugly black bitch. River and Rell looked at each other a moment blank fury on their faces, their cheek marks flashing rhythmically in colors of green and midnight blue respectively. The air in the store grew cold and the lights dimmed dramatically two more flashes and Rell had bolted headed straight for Chrissy who stood back stunned for a moment by the powerful display of magic before he saw the blur headed for him he quickly, clumsily threw up the wards he was casting tenting the air in front of him amber hoping he would crash into them not caring if he broke his neck or not but to his fright and outright surprise he blew right through them.
"What the fuck." he whispered before the air was knocked out of him by Rell spearheading him in the gut. He flew back his head smashing against the tiled floor his vision going white with pain for a moment before he came to and saw a angry boy standing above him with a foot raised his cheek marks and eyes glowing angry and undaunted was all Chrissy saw before the foot was brought down and he fell into a sea of agony as he felt his face being caved in and his nose shatter.
"Moonlight stop you'll kill him!" Shad went pull him off and succeeded before a electrified fist caught him in the nose but he held on pulling him back towards Jay and River, "Go! Get him out of here!" He yelled his glasses were broken and dark blood was slowly dripping from his nose as he shoved him toward Jay who caught the other boy and earning a punch in the cheek, "Rell chill out its me."
"I'll get us out." River said raising his arms to poof them out but his eyes caught a slowly rising Chrissy his nose a mushed dripping mess, "But before I do." He sped over to the boy the same way his brother did his feet skimming the floor he kicked the boy in the gut earning a loud cry and hearing a crack he smiled in satisfaction, "Okay we're out bye Shad." He smiled sweetly, "Have fun cleaning this mess." And in two swirls of emerald smoke he and his family were gone leaving the demon and his witch alone with humans to whose memories they would need to wipe clean of the whole event.
"Fucking Rell." Shad whispered.
