Somewhere in the Nevada Desert...
"Ready to begin testing, " said Dr. Rogers. His assistant nodded and wheeled the alien body over to the operating table. "Now let's see what makes this thing tick," he said, slipping on some rubber gloves. Dr. Rogers looked down on the pale blue body of the alien and stared at its closed sunken dead eyes.
"This is a real find for Project Cadmus isn't it?" asked the assistant excitedly. Dr. Rogers nodded and held his hand out for a scalpel. The assistant placed it in his hands and watched as the doctor made the first incision.
Dr. Rogers got out a recorder and clicked 'Record.' "This is Dr. Rogers with the extraterrestrial. We have begun the dissection. Things are proceeding on schedule." He put the scalpel down and reached for the mouth prop. "I am now opening the chest cavity to get a better look at the internal organs. It is expected that the organs will be vastly different from those of a human. Hopefully, they can help further scientific research and medicine." The assistant helped peel back the two pieces of the alien's chest and they both peered inside.
"That's...unexpected," murmured the assistant. Dr. Rogers rubbed his chin.
"It seems the alien possesses no internal organs. It is just an empty cavity."
"Wait, look at that!" exclaimed the assistant. The duo opened the chest even further to reveal a crystal buried in the back of the alien's body. "What is that?" whispered the assistant.
As soon as the words left the assistant's mouth, the alien's eyes shot open and grabbed the doctor's wrist. "Who are you?! Where am I?!" yelled the alien.
The assistant screamed and ran for help, but the alien quickly reached out and crushed his windpipe.
"W-what...are you?" stuttered Dr. Rogers.
The alien turned a red eye towards the man, the hole in his chest already closing and healing. "I am Fohst," the alien declared. "Who are you?"
The doctor gulped and tried to compose himself. "W-well you see. I am a doctor at Project Cadmus. W-we study extraterrestrials like you in hopes of curing diseases and understanding the Meta-Gene."
The alien's eyes glowed for a few moments. "No. You lie," he growled. "You wish to weaponize this 'Meta-Gene' and crush all that oppose you." The alien enveloped the screaming doctor's throat with his purple hand and began to squeeze.
"P-please, don't kill me..." Dr. Rogers wheezed. The alien ignored him and crushed his throat as well.
Suddenly, armed soldiers burst into the room, quickly surrounding the alien. "Freeze! Put your arms up where we can see them!" The alien gave a cursory glance around the room and sneered.
"Your human weapons cannot hurt me!" The alien 's eyes glowed once again and the soldiers were blown backward. "Time to leave this wretched place." The alien used its psychic powers once more to rip open the roof and quickly flew off into the night.
"Commander come in! Come in commander!" demanded a voice. The commanding officer groaned and picked up the walkie-talkie.
"Y-yes ma'am?"
"What in the hell happened in there?!"
"The alien....escaped."
The woman on the other side of the call gave an exasperated sigh. "Well, go and capture it! We cannot allow it to get too far! That alien is vital to the next stage!"
The soldier nodded in understanding. "Yes, Miss Waller."
