There is something comforting about the night
The way it silently envelops everything
How everything becomes lost
How, in an instant, you are suddenly alone
Alone with your thoughts
Your feelings
Your demons
With no one to hear your cries"It builds character"
"It's not that bad"
"Just think happy thoughts"All through the night,
Whispers from the mind
Are fed to the heart
Threads of black connect the two
Until they are indiscernible
From the black of nightUntil the silent night
Becomes a perpetual buzz
But white noise can help put people to sleep
So comfort is found in the night
Along with tear streaked cheeks
