"Namjoon!" You shouted from your bedroom. As you entered the room, you were greeted with an exploded pen and black ink being scattered around your homework, in which is due tomorrow morning. Namjoon, your younger brother, must've crawled into your bedroom and attempted to do your homework for you. He failed miserably.
"Yeah?" Namjoon came up to you, holding a brand new pen beside him. "What's up?" He asked with an innocent grin plastered on his face.
"'What's up'!? Say that to my homework! It's ruined all because of you!" You screamed, not caring in the world to what he had to say. "You always do this. Coming into my room, trashing it and walking out like nothing happened!"
"I'm sorry, sis. I was only trying to h-"
"Help? Learn how to not create a mess with that brain of yours." Those cold harsh words got Namjoon silent for minutes. He had nothing to say, he was speechless. "You know what'll actually help? You leaving me alone. I'd rather spend my whole night doing my homework instead of seeing your face."
Namjoon sighed deeply, nodding. "Alright. If that's what you want, I'll leave you alone." Your words had pierced through his heart. He didn't mean to hurt you nor even cause trouble towards you.
It was just over twenty-three days and you and Namjoon had stopped talking to eachother, even glancing at one another. Guilt built up in the back of your throat after what happened. His words were true, but yours were a lie. You hated seeing his face everyday before and after school without being reminded of your spoken words. You hated it and you wanted your real brother back.
"Yeah, I'll be out in a sec. Just wait there, alright?" You said over the phone. It was Namjoon's classmate who you were going to meet. He was your tutor for Maths, Chemistry and Media, but also a way to start talking to Namjoon again. You thought that if you had someone related to Namjoon in some way and started going outside more, Namjoon could finally notice you and speak up. You were shy and a coward to even go near him.
"(Y/N)." Joohwa called. "Are you doing well? Have you completed the sheet I gave you?" You nodded at both questions before handing a filled in paper full of answers towards him.
"My grades have gone up thanks to you, Joohwa. You've helped me enough and I feel like you've been burdened enough with my troubles." You explained. He shook his head, curling his fists in yours.
"Don't be. I actually enjoy teaching you. It's funny to see your reactions." Joohwa said. He raised an eyebrow, still holding onto your hand. "But are your grades above a B?" You shook your head.
"There's something I have to tell you and I feel like you'll hate me after I say this." Your pulse was beating ever so quickly. Your breathing quickened and your body was shaking. "I'm using you."
"You're my student aren't you suppose to?"
"No. I mean I'm using you for Namjoon. You know him. You're close to him. If I used you as my tutor, I'd thought he'll notice me. That didn't work out as planned."
"I understand." Joohwa hung his head high, letting go of your hand. "I can still be your tutor, right? Just call me whenever and I'll make sure to pick you up." You nodded at his words and gave him a sympathetic smile.
"It's best if I go now. I just only wanted to give you the worksheet." Both of you understood the situation. Joohwa kept a promise to himself to never tell you his feelings. He promised to see you everyday, but that soon broke. His heart was shattered and he felt numb when seeing you. All he did was just smile.
"You're home early." Those first words that came out of Namjoon's mouth surprised you. You were confused in a way that you stood frozen, almost bursting into tears. You hoped it wasn't his last speech.
"You still mad at me?" He asked, throwing in pain in the back of his throat. "I'm sorry I even tried to help. Guess you still don't want to see me..." Namjoon inhaled and exhaled slowly, taking deep breaths in the silence.
You crawled behind the boy, back hugging him like you used to. It caught him by surprised, but you both let out laughter a few seconds after. "I'm sorry I lost my temper at you. I understand you were only trying to make me feel better."
"I missed you, (Y/N)."
You laughed once again, rolling your eyes. "This isn't a cliché movie moment, is it?"
"Just say 'I miss you' already." Namjoon demanded, pouting ever so cutely. His dimples were shown and his plump lips were attached to one another.
"Namjoon."
"Yeah?"
"Most things I say I don't even mean it."
"(Y/N)!"
"Alright. Alright. I missed you too, Joon."
