You could say April Walker was very antisocial. She preferred keeping to herself. Because dealing with people was hard, to much to handle.
But the constant pressure about fitting in, having the "right friends" teasing, self harm was something that came with this, all tied up with the package labeled growing up.
Growing up is no picnic.

Peter pan has been supporting her every step of the way.
