The morbid grey skys blended with your boots, matched your mood and was his favourite colour. That man. You couldn't wipe him from your mind. Ever.

In the mornings he walked into the office with such swagger sporting said pair of grey Timberland boots, not that you copied him by getting your own pair- actually that's exactly what you did. Not that he noticed, you were just a junior editor after all and he was the main event. Content creator and all round amazing guy: Alex Smith.

You'd only been at the office for a few weeks and he was already ruining your life, mainly because he wasn't yours. You knew you would never be good enough for a guy like him especially with his demeanour and profile.

It was 7pm and you were on your way home from another long, stressful day at the office. You thanked the darkness of the winter evening as it hid your tears that mixed with the rain. You usually drove to and from work but someone had broken into your car and stolen your dashcam which meant driving wasn't an option until the window was fixed. You didn't mind walking as it wasn't a long walk maybe half an hour? You needed the exercise or that's what the reflection in the mirror told you.

You were lucky enough to live in a nice apartment block in a quiet area, you were forever grateful for your parents helping you pay for this place because there was no way you could've forked out as much as the owners wanted.. especially on a junior editors wage. You found yourself putting the key in the door and opening it on your dark living space. It was open planned and slightly too modern for your liking, it felt too clean and untouched - definitely not homely. You shut the door and slumped down on your sofa not caring for your soaked clothes or the way your body shook in a mixture of exhaustion and feeling chilled to the bone. In your sudden state of self-pity you let your head fall back, tears and rain from your wet hair falling into your ears. Eyes shut. You fell into an unknown sleep.
