At the dawn of May 1857,
United, stood all the Indians, for crimes unforgiven.
Amongst them, stood Begum Hazrat Mahal,
A women, rebelling against the British! Was surely surreal.Valiantly she fought, and paved the way,
For generations of women to come, and prevent doomsday.
Next was Rani Laxmi Bai of Jhansi,
Her war cry as loud as a banshee,Heroically she charged into battle,
And brought the British onto their knees.
An epitome of fearlessness and valour,
She fought for her motherland, for love and for peace.Even though the Nightingale of India, Sarojini Naidu,
Only after two years of independence, bid adieu
She will always be idolised and cherished,
For she is one of the most significant freedom fighters who wished,For the world to be a better place,
And for everyone to wholeheartedly embrace,
Themselves, and this newly found freedom,
And come to the aid of those who need'em.All these women, including Sucheta Kriplani and Annie Besant,
Made the world much more pleasant,
As they worked day and night and sweat blood
and dragged the British name through the mud.So, on this Independence Day,
I genuinely pray,
That the world still has people like them,
Who fought dauntlessly, to free us from the British realm.
