CHAPTER 5
I sat in the middle of the room with Gansey to my left and Zack to my right. Zack had somehow gotten his hands on a bouncy ball and was bouncing it up an down, while Gansey was staring out the window. I could feel the tension in the room. It hung in the air around me, making it hard to breathe and feel as if there was a large weight bearing down on my chest. All I could hear was the thump thump of Zack's ball as it hit the ground and retreated back to his hand, and of course I could hear the sound of my own heart beat, I would'nt be surprised if the boys could hear it too. I stared at the clock, as if that would make time fly by faster. At some point I snapped.
"Zack! Will you stop bouncing that ball! I'm going to go crazy if I hear that thing hit the ground one more time!" I whisper-yelled at him.
"And will you two just drop whatever grudge you have against each other, and get along! Its only another 30 minutes and then you'll never have to see each other gain!"
"Exactly, so why do i have to get along with him now? Its not like we're going to become best friends in the next 30 minutes that we're stuck here" Zack replied.
"I'm going to have to agree with princess over there. Its not like we can just have a normal conversation and act like nothing happened" Gansey said.
"Well you better figure out a way to forget before I come back from the bathroom, if I'm going to be stuck here with you two little kids than you're going to get along. Hold hands or something, be friendly"
"Don't you think that's a little too friendly?" Gansey said with a horrified look.
"I don't know, just do something! Its not my problem!"
"Whatever her majesty wishes" Zack commented back as I walked out the door.

I washed my hands and made my way back to the detention room. When I reached the door, I stood and looked in the class from the little glass panel on it. Neither of the two were talking to each other and acted as if they didn't notice one another in the room. I strode into the room, taking a seat towards the back. Both of them were really starting to get on my nerves and I was not in the mood to babysit. I pulled my sketchbook out of my bag and started to draw. In what felt like no time, I was free of being imprisoned. I walked out toward the front of the school, opening one of the 2 double doors as I reached into my bag, pulling out my phone. With a few quick strokes I was calling my mom to come pick me up.
"Voice mail, dammit!" I said to myself, she's probably at work, now I'll have to walk home. I started walking the 10 miles that stood between me and my bed. Shortly after I crossed the road, a car pulled up next to me and honked. The window rolled down proving my assumptions correct, Zack.
"Do you need something from me?" I asked.
"Is this how you speak to your rescuer?" He replied sarcastically.
"And what are you rescuing me from? Seems more like stalking." I said.
"Please, why would I want to stalk you? And if you don't want a ride home than you could have just said so." He replied. I contemplated whether or not I should get in the same car as Zack, especially when he was driving. Eventually talking myself into going with him instead of having to walk in the 98 degree California heat. Might as well take the free ride, right? I mean whats the worst that could happen.
"Fine, but you take me straight home, no detours." I said as I threw my bag in the car, and then plopping myself down on the leather seats.
"I'm not going to kidnap you, calm down. Where is the trust, Ivory?" He said with an evil smirk. He was obviously enjoying the fact that he could make me squirm with just one look.
