The Guarded Little Lily

The garden was gleaming
With roses, tulips and violets,
But one flower stood apart,
Covered in small water droplets.

The sun wasn't bright.
& the weather wasn't chilly.
The first time I saw her.
The Guarded Little Lily.

Her petals fluttered with the breeze
Frolic as a child in the rain.
In a world going crazy,
She was happily sane.

She would love a small talk
But she felt a bit awkward
With her head held high
Her soul flew onward.

Others flowers chased beauty
She chased strength
So when the weather went bad
Hope was still at arm's length

I'd pluck her and keep her hidden
That smile ever glowing
But I couldn't do that,
For her soul is ever growing

A knight to protect her,
That's not what she needs.
She was happy just like that,
Didn't care about the weeds.

Her aura was simple
But something knocked me silly
I think it was her spirit
She was the Guarded Little Lily.
