Why Me?

Everyone's eyes sink into my skin. Not one of them blinks. They all just stare, as if they are trying to find something on me. I pivot back to Alpha. I see her eyes look deep into my soul. My head tilts as I see the young girl. Her eyes blink and her head shakes. Her short hair wraps around her neck and then unwraps.

"W-w-where are we?" Alpha stutters.

"We're at school, but something weird has happened," I say as if she hasn't realised all the staring faces.

"Was I staring at you too?" Her voice trembles.

"Uh yeah, you were."

"Oh my, I'm so sorry. I think it was the men that took me into the big white room." Her innocent voice weakens as she finishes her sentence.

"Men? A white room?" the questions slip out before I can use my mind rationally. I see her pupils dilate, with fear shining through her violet eyes. Her breathing rate accelerates visibly and she scratches the collar around her neck, her fingers leaving red marks as she takes them away from her skin.

"There were men, lots of men." Her voice shook and I could feel guilt pound through myself as I was the one making her relive these memories.

"Don't feel bad." she said, catching my expression.

I bit my lip, motioning my hand for her to continue. She took a deep breath before locking me in her sharp gaze. "It started in this hallway..."

I was running. My heart almost beating out of my chest, my ribcage barely containing it. It thumped painfully against it's enclosed space, making me gasp and pant unevenly.

"We have you now!" a male voice snickered. I ran, fear pulsing through my body uncontrollably. My shoes slapped painfully down the school corridor, clearly giving me away. I pushed my arms and legs harder, trying to get out. I saw the familiar blue doors, open, waiting, begging, rooting for my escape. I felt the sun's thin weak rays shine on my face and I slowed slightly. That was the worst mistake I had ever made. A hand snaked itself around my waist, a sharp gasp escaping my pale pink lips as I was dragged away from the outside, the light, my freedom.

"That's all I can remember, apart from waking up in that white room."

I shuddered, skin crawling. It was like I could almost feel the sun on my face, the weak rays creating dapples on my skin. A pair of calloused hands, joints bending to grip my waist, tugging me back into darkness. My skin felt ice cold and I could almost taste the fear in my mouth, her story replaying in my mind. "Is there anything else you can remember?" I asked, voice almost a whisper but echoing in the forever silent corridor. Alpha sighed, pulling a hand through her chestnut brown hair.

"Well, it felt like I was simply sitting in my brain," she frowned.

I raised an eyebrow. "Sitting?"

"Yeah. It was like I wasn't in control of my body but I could only really watch what was happening to me through my eyes as if they were windows. It probably doesn't make any sense." she said, giving a nervous laugh. My eyebrows creased and a thought suddenly went off in my head before grabbing Alpha's hand and pulling her along with me.
