I awaken to rain bouncing off my roof loudly, leaving any chance of sleeping in diminished. I sit up and rub my eyes tiredly, looking at my small alarm clock. The glowing numbers burned my eyes and I blink a few times before reading it. 7:19. I mentally swore myself for being used to waking for school and drag myself from my bed. I trudge into the bathroom and run the sink, splashing icy water on my face to wake my brain. As soon as I wake I brush my hair and get dressed, ready to face my job. I make some toast while I put on some light make up, trying not to coat it on like a crazed baboon. I grab the toast as it pops up, walking out my front door and locking it. I sing along to the radio as I drive to the flower shop where I work. I walk into work as I'm finishing my breakfast. I pull my apron over my head and put on my name tag with a fake smile.
The day was slow at the flower shop, we only had 3 customers who bought roses for valentines day. I pulled the over-cheery smock off and hang it, sighing in exhaustion. I picked up my purse and walk out the door, getting in my car. I drive silently down the road till a small creature caught my eye. An orphaned puppy was struggling against a sewer current, almost getting sucked into the drain. I gasp quietly and stop my car, jumping out before it stops rolling. I run over to the little puppy and pull him from the water, smiling. I place him in my jeep and continue home, stopping once at a pet shop for some supplies. I clip the tiny collar on him as we arrive at my small house. I pick up my bags and bring him inside, setting him in a small towel.
"What shall I call thee?" I ask with an American accent, trying not to let my English one slip. "How about Sky?" I ask. He yips weakly and slowly wags his tiny tail. I dry him off and set him in his bed, smiling softly. He begins to lightly snore and I drag my self to bed. Tired from our long day. "Goodnight Sky..." I mumble before falling asleep, recapping the day in my dreams.
