“Excuse me, is this the sixth form common room?” I asked as I poked my head into what looked to be a living room of some sort with posters on the walls and a couple of couches. There was a group of about ten girls scattered around the room.
“Um, yeah, I hope I don’t seem rude but who are you?” one of the girls replied.
I walked into the room and made my way over to the girls. They seemed confused and they were looking at me like I was a bug that they wanted to squish.
“Oh, my name’s Andy. I just moved over here with my brother and his friends and turns out, now he wants me to finish school so here I am.”
“Oh, okay. Where are you from? You’ve got a funny accent.” the same girl asked.
“I’m from LA, I grew up in Hollywood and before you ask no, I haven’t met anyone famous apart from a guy called Tony Lovato and my brother’s band, Hollywood Undead.”
“Like oh my God you’ve met Tony Lovato?” someone asked in a fake, high-pitched voice.
I looked towards the door where my best friend, Aron, was standing, smiling, with my rucksack and a set of keys. It was Aron who had spoken.
“Aron, you should probably stop doing that around other people. They might think that you’re crazy.”
“Yeah but you already know I’m crazy babe.”
A shiver went down my spine when he called me that and I had to concentrate on not letting my feelings for him known. The truth is that I’d had a crush on him for years and recently had begun to realize that I was falling in love with him. How did I know? Well, let’s just say that I’ve shed enough tears over the subject.
“Well, girls, this is my best friend on the planet, apart from my brother, Aron.”
“Hey girls.” Again with the high-pitched voice.
“You know, it’s actually kind of worrying that you can do that with your voice. It’s not natural.”
He laughed and I shook my head.
“Hey, Andy, um, I’m taking a taxi back to the house so I’ll leave you the keys to the Fiesta. Also, when you get back if we’re not there then it means that either we’re already out having a good time, or that we’re still recording… hopefully the first option but you never know so if we’re not back when you get home, um, Jorel basically said to have what you want to eat and also that he was going to get you to go food shopping on Saturday so it’s probably a good idea to get pizza or whatever.”
“Cool. I guess I’ll see you later then.”
I didn’t want him to leave and something told me that he didn’t want to leave either. It had been almost a whole year since I’d gone to school and not seen any of the guys for more than eight hours straight during the day.
I gave Aron a quick hug and took one last look into those beautiful eyes of his before he walked off, not realizing that I had sneakily stolen his cap. Closing the door, I turned towards the girls again.
