You never actually know the what the true meaning of kindness is, until someone shows you. For me, Alex Stone was that someone.
-------------
Back in 2015, I was at the lowest point of my life. My mother had just passed away from cancer, and my dad was taking it rough.

I took it harder.

I became depressed. So depressed when I looked in the mirror I didn't even recognize myself anymore. Baggy clothes, bracelets-lots of them-to cover up the scars. It was bad, to say the least.

School was worse. Everyday, picked on, tormented. Called countless names. Emo, freak, loser.

Then there was the physical abuse. So many times I went home beaten, bloody.

One day, however, everything changed.

It was like any other day at school, I was called names, kicked around, bullied. The only difference was that their were rumors going around that we would have a new student, Alex. Our school was small, so it was rare that we got a new student.

For me having a new student sucked. It would mean another person to get tormented by.

While I was walking to my first hour, math, I passed by my number one tormenter, Veronica Star. I barely know her. I'll never understand how someone could be so mean to a stranger.
Veronica and her friends were walking down the hall, talking about how they hope the new kid is hot, until they saw me.

"Hey look, it's the freak!" Veronica's friends laughed. I just continued walking, I was used to her name calling by now. I had thought she walked on, but suddenly I was slammed against the lockers with so much force I saw stars. I tried to get out of her grip, but I was too weak.

"When I say something to you, you don't ignore me. Understood?" Veronica's hundred dollar nails were digging into my skin. I nodded vigorously. She smirked.

"Why don't we teach her a lesson?" Her friends came closer.

"P-please d-d-don't." I stuttered. They all laughed, and came even closer. One of Veronica's friends grabbed me and threw me to the ground, and everyone started kicking me. It hurt so much I started to cry.
"What a f-"

She was cut off by the best voice I had ever heard.

"What the heck! Get away from her!"
Everyone was still. I looked over, and there stood the new kid, Alex.

"Don't worry, I was just getting rid of this piece of trash." Veronica giggled. She fricken giggled.

"Oh really? How does one get rid of themselves?"

Veronica turned red. "Trust me, you don't want to be seen with her. She's a loser!"

Alex scoffed. "Please, your the only loser here. She's better than you any day."

With that Alex picked me up off the ground, bridal style, and walked me away from them.

I spoke first, after we were far away from Veronica.

"T-thank you"

"No problem, you just owe me your friendship."
