"You useless piece of--"

"Stop it Trevor! Lock your door Avery!" my mother shouted.

I wipe my tears as I run up the staircase. I lock my door and slouch on the carpet.

"It's all my fault, it's all my fault, it's all my fault..."

I shut my eyes to stop the tears from flowing and heave a sigh.

My father acted as the perfect alpha, one who loves his children throughout all circumstances...Even my brother's death.

It's not our fault Avery.

My wolf comforts me and I force a smile and walk towards my mirror.

I'm okay.

I assure her and wince as I start dabbing a wet cloth on my cheek.

I slip under my blanket and reach for a portrait of me and my twin brother.

"Goodnight Asher..."

I silently pick at my food and jump at my seat as I hear my father speak to me.

"You're going to be mates with the beta's son, Dale."

"M-Mates? B-But what about my real m-mate?" I stutter.

I whimper in pain as I receive a hard slap.

"You little..."

I wince and prepare myself as he raises his arm for another slap.

"Your mate is who I choose. No one will love a disgrace like you. You're lucky beta Carter even brought it up." he spat.
