"Shit." I mumble as some mascara gets on my eyelid.

I always have the greatest luck. Hint the fucking sarcasm. I grab a Q-tip and wipe the excess mascara off. When I'm officially done putting my make up on, I grab my bag and run out the door. I'm going to be late to school, again.

I pull into my parking spot and walk as slow as I can to the school office. I hate this shit place.

"Late again, Mrs. Wood" the office adviser drags on.

God she makes me sound as old as her.

I roll my eyes and hand motion for her to give me my late slip. She must be used to it by now, I'm late almost every day of the week. Sadly, I think I'm starting to grow a friendship with the office lady. She jots down my name and hands it to me. I mumble a quiet thanks and start to walk to second period.

I almost feel bad for my second period teacher, he has to deal with me being late almost everyday. I open the door and I'm greeted
with short glances from my classmates. I walk up to my teacher Mr.Reden and hand him my slip.

"Ahh, Mrs. Wood, late again." he says.

I roll my eyes, like I haven't heard that already today.

"Yep" I reply, popping the 'p'.

I almost make it to my seat before he calls me back to his desk. I slowly shut my eyes while letting out a sigh, and turn my heel to walk back to him.

"12 late slips in the past 3 weeks Hal, that means detention for the rest of this week." he announces with a weak smile. Shit. Its only Tuesday, and I am blessed with detention for the rest of the week. Amazing.

"Thanks Mr. Reden,I appreciate it." I sarcastically say with a fake smile.

I proceed to sit down in my seat next to a girl named Tori. She's all about college and school, all that jazz.

"If you aren't going to show up on time, why not just drop out Hallie?"

God I hate her voice. And being called by my full name.

"Trust me, I would." I say in reply.

In all honesty I would've dropped out of this ass wipe school by now, I'm just not old enough to. I'm about 3 months into my sophomore year and I turn 16 in 5 months. I'm counting down the days.

Im not too bad at the whole being smart thing though, I have good grades. For my parents sake.

The bell finally rings and I'm the first one out. I hate being in classrooms for so long, it drains me of creativity. It probably drains all people of creativity.

I walk into the main hall towards my locker. Then I'm met with a smiling face, "HALLLLL" my best friend Ashton basically yells.

"Heyyy Ash." I sigh.

"Hallie boo what's wrong?" he says with a forced pouty face.

"Okay for one, don't call me Hallie. And for two, why are you so happy today?"

"I met a.. uh girl" he replies with a smile.

"Okay, so?"

"She was so hot Hal you don't understand." he said while smiling down at his feet. Fucking dork.

I nod, not wanting to even entertain the issue longer. Ash meets a new girl every week, then he brags about it, then he gets tired and moves on. He's such a boy.

Me and Ash have been best friends ever since he moved into the house across the street from mine. He was 8 and I was 6, and I guess things just kind of clicked. Ashton's like the older brother I never had, I love him like family.

Ash grabs my arm and leads me to the lunch tables where we sit everyday. I don't really have friends my age. The majority of my friends are seniors, like Ash.

"I'll be right back, I'm gonna grab some pizza. Do you want some?" Ashton quietly says.

Fuck yeah I want some pizza. I'm starving, but I probably shouldn't eat till I get home.

"No thanks." I reply.

"Hal, you gotta eat something we won't be home till late." Ash sighs with a worried look.

"I'm fine Ash, I'll live." I say with a laugh.

"I know, I know. I'm just worried about you sometimes." he laughs quietly.

I wish he wouldn't worry, cause honestly there isn't anything wrong with my eating habits.

"Are you going to stay here all day and talk about my eating routines or are you going to go get pizza?" I say.

He rolls his eyes and walks towards the food court.

"LOVE YOU TOO BABE!" I yell sarcastically in Ashton's direction. He continues to walk away and I turn to my friends, who are now talking about some college party they're planning to attend.
